Strange that pre-season is huge for Kenny, but he's injured for all of it and their first league game is 2 weeks away 😄

Whoever he signs for, he's unlikely to be starting league games in August if he's not started his pre-season yet, if what MON said is right.

Kenny is not staying at Celtic full stop. Would take something dramatic with Celtic and strikers for him to be a prominent Celtic player. Be very very surprised if he’s there end of August

No idea who Celtic have signed, but at the back end of last year their sole competent striker was a past-it Iheanacho (who could only do 30mins a game). And according to the above, they're re-signing him.

Given he's openly said he wants to fight for a place at Celtic, just feels unlikely that he wouldn't be able to get himself games up there.

McAtee was part of the 1st team squad (without checking) about 90% of the time he was available.

We are already short of attackers, and have lost at least two "no.10's" compared to a year ago if we count Dempsey and Randall. He isn't going anywhere unless someone comes in with money, which is highly unlikely with a year left.

The same applies to every player under contract that was part of most squads last season, we are as likely to lose anyone as lose McAtee. Presumably every player has his price and he's no different but I'd be amazed if any of the recognised squad leave before the January window (when it will be clear which aren't getting a game).

Dunno how many he was available for, but McAtee was in the squad for 23 games last season. There are 10 currently contracted players who played more minutes than him. Plus RR who became a key man after coming in. We've signed five more already this summer.

I disagree we're as likely to lose anyone as McAtee. He seems to have the perfect combination of not being particularly rated by SS, clearly not good enough for the Championship but will still have a decent market in L1/L2. I reckon he's one of our most likely players to leave.

I agree and think Macca will be one of the first away this week. I’m sure there are plenty of L1 andcL2 clubs eyeing up what would probably be a bargain signing for them. Maybe someone like Plymouth if they do lose both Pepple and Tolaj? There’s always Barnsley too who always seem to be linked to him?

It is him, I heard the name a couple of weeks ago but it was tight between us and clubs in Europe.

But of a coup apparently, I'd never heard of him but had a good year, can play anywhere up the right hand side.

I’d dismissed this as Twitter talk, it looked like he was performing at too high a level for us to tempt him, so fantastic if it comes off.

RW and RWB is the talk on Twitter.

If he comes in we will have options of a flat back four or play with wingbacks. With him playing right back and Stephenson RWB. And on the other side Famewo left back and Conway LWB.

Perhaps SS may go with the same system as last year at home but go with wingbacks away giving us a little extra protection at the back

On reflection I agree McAtee isn't as likely to stay as the likes of RR, Dalby, Forino, Sheehan, of course they are nailed on to be a big part of the first team week in week out. But the next level down - Gale, Simons, EE, Christie are all players that are replaceable should we get signings in. Currently they are all needed because we are generally short on numbers and that includes McAtee's position. Who knows what will happen, but as you say he was selected in the squad 23 times last season, despite injury and suspension, and he came on in most games, so SS does rate him even if that's only at L1 level. We have no idea who he rates to make the step up to the championship yet but I suspect he would upgrade as many as he can and McAtee is just one of those.

You really reckon he's brought in EE simons and Gale on long contracts if he didn't think them capable of stepping up... interesting..

Guess nobody at the club thought we'd get promoted when bringing in.
