I wouldn't say he was overrated at the time, but no disputing he went off the boil.  Some of those goals he scored weren't flukes, at least 2 free kicks in the postage stamp, 2 fantastic finishes against Wolves, 1 v Watford, that classy one v Wigan, winning a pen v Liverpool.  Aside from his goals he was class on the ball too and isn't the first or last to not kick on after a big move.

Dont forget, he was always looked on as being weak

Thats why it took so long for him to get a start

Lennon chucked him in against advice he was getting

All went well til reading booted him off the pitch 

I dont think he ever really got over that in his head
