Going into the season with our current striking options is very worrying. Agree with above, Madine should be backup and nowhere near the starting 11 at this level, out of his depth as proven the season we got relegated. Pace is needed but under this embargo will be tough to get that Calibre of player in!

Remember one season we had no striker 24 hours before the season started we signed Rankin who played next day, think we went up that season didn't we?

Remember Ian Marshall , big gypo who signed the Friday before the opening game.

Another season I'd thought we would struggle after the break up of what I thought was a decent team. 're ritche,johnston, gudjohnsen jensen etc. Allardyce did a sensational job rebuilding that team.

Depends how you define fantastic. He had a good season. Did what was asked of him. He is never going to score 20 goals, but for what he contributed I'd say he was pretty good.

Think most would agree that good or pretty good aren't definitions of fantastic

As a Madine knocker I'm happy to say he played his part in promotion. He had good spells, he also had bad spells and spells when his attitude was shit

 

All in all we got promoted and happy days - we accomplished what we needed to and he played a role.

 

Fantastic though? Nah, nowhere near. For me Wheater and Beevers were the stars of the show last season and the only ones I'd give that accolade to for the season, but it was a decent collective effort too.

yes our striking options may not be the best compared to others However..

 

I think Huddersfields top scorer was 12 goals last season I'm sure fondre could get near that.

 

Also like we proved with a good defence last season you don't necessarily need a hit man

I did scratch my head when parky was in the press saying he wax asking Madine to play through the pain barrier. Could well have been somert and nowt, but seemed odd.

Iirc the tale went he'd been videoed having a pop at Billy Sharpe, then had a bust up with parky on the way to Sheffield and sent home/flounced off home before kick off.

Pulling out of challenges; half hearted trotting about; spats internally; subbing himself off when mgt weren't ready

Like i said, at times he's been decent but fantastic - not "amazing" enough in his good spells, or long consistently enough at "good" for that IMHO

Maybe parky has been pleased with a change in attitude and a more professional approach that has lead to a new contract.

Guess we will see the merit of it in the coming season.

I sure he was given a 2 year contract because we seem unable to attract better.
