Is he going to get more at Blackburn, than we've offered him? Not convinced even if we are skint.

Surely he'd prefer a higher league.

Heard he had higher offers from two north west clubs than what we'd offered. Blackburn and Wigan seem to be the candidates.

Shows how little we can afford. We can only pay max £10K per week under embargo anyway.

I'm glad we can't. I Like spearing but he isn't worth more than that

Why the fuck have the local papers but an embargo till tomorrow. National security issue????

Hope he goes, he's not all that, we move on.

Time to break up the failures club & move on

We did just get promoted. With Spearing as captain...

Same bloke who was a huge let down the year before.

As were loads of them. Some worse than Spearing and we've signed them on.

He's gone and to me it's a shame, but not the end of the world. However, he's a very decent championship defensive midfield player and I doubt we will sign better other than a youngster on loan and ultimately he won't be our player.

Iles saying Spearing's gone.

Better League 1 offers on the table inferred,(plural) must be Wigan and Blackburn.

Thanks Jay all the best.

Sad to see him go, nice to see us trying to run sustainably.

Does make you wonder is there an element of greed

Or has the likes of wheater and le fondre taken a massive drop

Its his last, or second to last, if he's lucky, big contract. Fair play to him if he chooses the cash. Wigan I can understand, Blackburn have signed four midfielders in pre season. He'll be lucky to get a game there.

Better players have signed for us for what you would assume was less cash. Up to the lad what he does. Nice to see sentimentality kicked into touch IMHO.

says in the Ben he was after similar deal to the one he signed in 2013 well that was never going to happen. But fair play to the club we need to tighten the belt

& yet he didn't get in the league one team of the year?

I wonder why?

Not worth the money he's being paid, or he presumably wants, so we move on & hopefully he realises he's not all that. Good luck to him, but I'm glad we're not wasting anymore time or money on what has realistically been a poor time of failure for us, which he has been a part of

Like Spearing, but there's no question he's earned more money than a player of his ability should have in his career thus far.

He owes Liverpool a lot for that; had he come through say Tranmere's academy, he wouldn't be held in anywhere near as high regard.

If he played at his absolute best every week, Spearing would amount to a top half Championship side player at the very most.

Very well put. If he does go then it'll be a shame that he doesn't want to move forward with us as a club - but giving him a contract anything like the last one he won with is would have been lunacy.

Good signing for either Wigan or Bburn in league 1 - but they must have found some money to throw about and I'm not sure what feeling comfortable about dropping down a division says about JS.

We'll have to see what happens.

I doubt Wigan or Blackburn will afford what JS is asking for.

Regardless, I think we can get as good if not a bit better for probably 60 per cent of the wages. His pay packet will have been a relic from the days of parachute payments. Different world now. Move on.
