Seeing as this post is full of conjecture, heard a rumour that Santos as captain had gone and asked for Dapo to be sold as his attitude was having a negative influence on the team.

Sounds a bit too similar to the Sarcevic situation although that turned out to be true I suppose.

Realistically even at this level 500k Is fuck all. You can't replace him for 500k. I don't think you can bring in two bodies for that to try and make the squad stronger either. 

If it's a case of we have to sell somebody to offset the Randall Williams deal then fine. 

But assuming we don't have to sell , I don't see 500k as a figure where we can bring in somebody better than him. He's out best attacking player by a fair margin. 

 

I like Dapo and think he's one of our best players..if he's played on the left.

That's unlikely to happen as we don't play that formation now.

So we may as well cash in and hopefully use that fee to find someone who suits the formation.

We are all guessing IE as a price for him and will not budge .

Suppose it depends upon what you're looking to achieve.

He cost nowt and perhaps Evatt may have his eyes on another, similar player. Or maybe someone doing well lower down, like the lad at Notts County for example.

Looking at it objectively, he's not playing at the moment so his value isn't growing.

Dapo’s been off the boil for months now, although he was quality in Lg2.

He just doesn’t seem motivated this season, time to cash in imo.

How the hell do you know we cant replace him for 500k?

We got him for free and stand to make half a million on him. Not a bad return imo.

Hopefully the next one makes us a million.

Ultimately the manager decides on formations etc. His job depends on getting it right, which in general he is doing.

My point being it might be unfair to call the lad 'unmotivated' when we no longer play him in the position he excelled at.

Looks like this window is going to become a lot more interesting than I anticipated. I thought we'd get a couple in and get rid of a couple (probably Baka and John). 

The reported £532K/600Euro fee for Dapo? My first instinct was that it's a wee bit on the low side, I still think that way but he's never really played above League 1 level. In the end he doesn't seem to fit our system any longer. We got him for nowt, he's 18 months left on his contract. We've become a trading club and ruthless judgements are being made. Interesting stuff.

The exciting signing? It may have progressed because we can now meet an asking price that we couldn't without selling Dapo. Hope its a clinical goal-poacher. Get one of them on board and we're going places.

There've been loads of deals elsewhere so far this January, it's a very active market. Maybe now's the time to go up a few gears in evolving and improving this squad of ours.

He's great if we play him in his best position but hasn't proved to be very adaptable. £500,000 is a lot of money in our position. How much was Dion Charles? £250,000? I'd snatch your hand off for 2 players as effective in their position as DC in his - in exchange for Dapo. And if he goes to a Championship club - then it's been a good bit of business for everyone involved.

Yeah, all that ... but I'll never believe we've not missed a huge trick with Dapo.
