time to shed a couple of stone from my current 16

 

i have the will power to do it but itll be easier if im not alone

 

anybody else making the effort and sharing their progress

Obviously exercise is very important when trying to lose weight. It can be catch 22 if you're carrying an injury and can't run or use a treadmill. For anyone in this position i would recommend taking up cycling - it's easier on the body than running yet it burns calories for fun.

......and as a bonus you can "own the road" and spend hundreds of quid on rancid coloured Lycra :D

What do you need to lose weight for?

 

If your over 18 stone and your BF is 22% I'd say you were doing ok.

 

Your overall weight means jack shit if your body fat is ok.

I'm about 16st give or take a couple of lbs on any given day and around 5ft 9. I have no specific goal other than to drop a noticeable few lbs, get back in 36 ins kex and just be generally all round fitter/healthier

 

I guess you cannot lose too much or you'd have to change your profile to "Smallish Dave" and that doesn't have a particularly interesting ring to it.

I'm 18 stone 10.. body fat was 21% last time I checked.

I thought they'd stopped using that as a benchmark now. I've got a mate who's 6'4" & at 18 stone he's apparently dangerously obese. Bollocks he is, he's just a fucking unit.

There's a machine at the gym (not the snack one) that works out your fat compared what body type you are. It says I'm a fat cunt, which to be fair,  I am.

Weighed myself this morning. I've put 2lb on since this thread started!

According to your height of 6' 0" your ideal healthy weight is 165 pounds. Your recommended weight range is between 147 and 183 pounds.

This was calculated using Hamwi formula, a simple formula commonly used by many clinicians.

 

 

So I'm in the right sort of area, but my ideal weight is about 3/4 of a stone less than I currently weigh.....and I the lowest recommended is 2st less than I currently am. Plenty of you know me, and I'm not the largest unit in the world......if I lost 2st, I'd look very ill indeed I would imagine

According to that, whilst I'm in the recommended area, I'm 7 lbs over my perfect weight. Haha, first time I've ever been told I'm overweight :D

I'm not overweight I'm under tall. Problem is, I need to grow another 24 inches.

 

I'm having a last 'family' holiday in June, back to the place in Gouves, Crete that our kids enjoyed. Obviously, I don't want people to be covering me in wet towels and trying to roll me back into the Med and neither do I want a vet to come along and decide my radar bits are fucked and the only kind thing to do is put a bullet between my eyes. I'm off to Iceland next week for 5 days but as I won't be parading round in my speedos that isn't an issue.

 

I really do need to lose 3 stones by June.

We bought some of that stuff the other week, what a load of shit it really is. It might be OK if you've got a load of other stuff in a sarnie, but just as a straight "bacon" substitute for a bacon barm, it's pretty cack

Did a great muscle blasting exercise in the gym last night that came from the same routine yon fella jackman did to get right to star in wolverine.

 

Pick a particular exercise ( I did bicep curls on long bar dumbbell)

 

Find the weight in which you can do a an absolute maximum of 12 reps. If you can manage a single more rep start again on a high weight :)

 

Then your target is a total of 50 reps with a maximum of only 30 seconds rest in between each set.

 

When you get to less than ten reps to go, cut your time down to 20 seconds rest followed by 10 as your rep count will be lower.

 

It sounds easy, but it's not.

 

My last few efforts were 4&2 reps so don't go easy on the first 12.

am aiming to get to 13 bang on and i'll be delighted

 

but that reckons:

no fucking chance, I know it's far to objective in that it's a website calculator, but still 

 

it also says:

"Burn an extra 500 calories a day with no effort, just wear a calorie burning cooling vest!"

It's a blunt instrument at best. It's fairly useful to get a rough idea. If someone's BMI is 40 the chances are they're a porker rather than a rugby league player.
