Bolton 1-1 Bristol Rovers

Tougher game than we'd imagine IMHO...

Going for a 3-0 win for them with Alan Warboys scoring the lot.

I am not getting involved in the shit on the thread regarding that Blade getting chinned, so will say it on here...................just go back a few years regarding him....all will be revealed....a Saint my fucking arse...

Wheater up front would be better than Wilkinson.

I don't think that's as daft as it sounds.

Mark came, Ian Marshall etc.

Derik at the back.

No, he would do well IMO. He would hold it up well for ALF and Long.

Now that Dervite is back we could still do three at the back, not going to happen though but we can't play Wilkinson.

Agreed, though in fairness he won't be playing against sheff utd each weak.

Sorry, he is just not good enough.

Baby's not even arrived yet haha

Wait till the exhaustion kicks in :)

This :)

Agree

(Though he would be missed at the back)

Pretty daft imo

Lets not take our best defender away

Without Madine it could be a struggle.

If he's missing again I'd play Wilkinson, limited as he is, we got worse on Saturday once he'd gone off & Long in for ALF who has been poor so far.....maybe coming on for the last 30 mins against tiring defenders will get him going.

A Bristol Rovers thread about visits to Burnden, the 9th one down by "rex" made me chuckle, but so far no mention of the time that they got chased out of the ground before the kick off !!

To be fair, they seemed quite a decent bunch down at Bristol......

3-1

No idea who plays for them but I fancy ALF to break his duck, with Spearing and Long getting the others

I really wish I could of witnessed a match at Burden Park, but being born in 1996 it was never possible.

Wilkinson should not be allowed anywhere near the macron. He is woeful. what needs to happen is PP gets players to play the ball on the ground and bin off this "HOOOOOOOF" mentality he is obsessed with.

Hasnt wilkinson scored a few for a shit chesterfield this season?

Maybe we are judging him to soon.

Granted, i wasnt there on saturday and by all accounts he was tosh

That's no excuse. JCL

I went to hundreds. Hundreds. Honestly, at many of those games, long forgotten about, the atmosphere was shit, the bogs stank and moaning cunts were rife.

Enjoy the folklaw, but for me the only place to be was there in Division 4 when we were down to 3500. The 10k crowd v Burnley was fucking massive.

In my life, I couldn't do midweek in the 70s so missed the Everton semi etc., there's probably only a few dozen games that fit the descriptions that a used now. It's almost unrecognisable to me.

Lostock,

Burnden was brilliant in the 70's but the team were doing well.

In the 80's our rapid decline on the pitch meant that attendances dropped to typically between 3-5000.

On some wet Winter days there were a handful on the embankment and all the paddock was pushed back for cover making that appear almost empty as well.

It was soul destroying stuff and then the Normid was built which probably ended any possibility of re-developing the ground in the future.

It had a good last few years though as we climbed back to the Premier league but watching games in a modern stadium is far better.

My first football memory is walking into the paddock up the open stairs that doubled back btw that stand and the Lever end and seeing what I believed to be a huge terraced stand opposite.  I was probably around 5-6 at the time.

It was only recently I realised that memory was from Burnden as the end I saw was the Embankment so it was probably one of, if not the, only time I saw the ground without Normid.  We were playing Rochdale.  My Dad confirmed this recently as I had always believed it to be an away game against Blackpool for some reason . . .

The smell of the bogs is something I'll never forget -  years of man piss left to ferment over the decades in a trough.

Some great memories but as Carlos and others say I have probably blanked out many bored afternoons kicking a can around in front of of the Lever end seats :)

The thing about Burnden for me was the fact that around 20 of us stood together for most home games, having mooched down from town after some drinks.

Our "spot" was the white wall level with the 18 yard box on the in the paddock down towards the Lever End.

Even for quieter matches, there'd always be someone from the group there so you'd always have company and a good giggle.

Moving stadium absolutely killed that experience stone dead. We didn't all have mobile phones back then and organising 20 people to be sat together at the new stadium was impossible so we all ended up in smaller groups spread around the ESL.

Obviously times move on and people drift away, but it's never really been the same since then. Even the shittest match was brightened up by the banter we had.

It's the little things you remember :- The smell of piss (rank), the way you could look down the terrace after we'd scored a goal and see about 200 fags being sparked up; how intimidating it must have been for opposition teams; walking down the Manny Road and buying a copy of White Love/COFTW (but not that Tripe and Trotters which was a bag of shit).

It's a plastic experience these days, but it's still BWFC innit?

Bristol sold a respectable 600 for tonight

Bristol sold a respectable 600 for tonight

Similar to what we sold away at theirs on a Wed night. 700 if my memory serves?
