I must admit I'd not noticed :-)

Mounts - are you really suggesting that after all this - you're now planning on moving back INTO the EU?

No irony, I've no issue with European countries my issue is with the EU we have taken back our democracy and borders and I hope other European countries soon see sense. My home will always be England but come winter I'll defer to a warmer climate. Edited by Mounts Kipper

When I retire I'm going to spend my days mooching about with a couple of other immature geriatrics - cooking up and carrying out madcap schemes out in the countryside, most of which will involve careering down a hill in some contraption or other, before crashing into bracken/bushes ending up with our legs jiggling about in the air...

Unfortunately, in today's suspicious environment, our antics will probably see us wrongly judged as paedophiles - and will be dealt with by brutal vigilantism. :(

Spains borders were extended to the UK (as part of the EU) which enabled U.K. citizens to buy property there. Do you not see the irony in your logic?

This may seem to be be deviating from the subject but many see the opportunity to escape the Rat Race by moving abroad.

Surprisingly the landscaping was more recent than that- some of the trees were thinned out a couple of years back; you've probably burned bits of them!

Its difficult to remember exactly how it was, but holes in the concrete floor over the stream were certainly a hazard- wouldn't be allowed now. Also remember thousands of tiny white pellets in the soil- not sure if they were ceramic or plastic or what, or what they were used for.

Don't get escaped cattle now, but deer are expanding their range into the area from Darcy and the gravel pits.

The stables on crows nest are my source of horse shit.

Well R we only did the Tong Rd little lever side of the park.  Cant get my head around those trees growing so high unless they were planted in the 80's. Not sure what the pellets would be was those on the Beightment side or LL side of the tracks?

We stood on a bridge looking down Blackshaw Brook toward the old paper mill pond was. Back in the 60's you would see no trees from the vantage point but now you can hardly see the stream for trees.

as an aside I told wifey that until the early 70's  Blacksahw brook used to be a differnet colour every day at this point. Being downstream from Ainsworth finishing and Dorma who simply had drainage running half a mile into the brook.

We have 'taken back our borders and our democracy' - and now you're on about abandoning them to move back into the clutches of the evil European Union :-)

You'd rather live in an undemocratic - fascist state than in the new dreamland of a free and independent England that you voted for?

Possibly the most farcically hypocritical thing I've ever read on here!

Anyway - best of luck and can I come and visit around February time :-)

I'm English and we've returned power to the British people what happens in Spain is no concern of mine. I'll just enjoy the climate and cheap wine. Thanks for your good wishes happy to share a beer with any Wanderer but you'll have to sort your own digs out.???? Edited by Mounts Kipper

Before 1973? I've no idea. Lots of things have changed since then.

I'm guessing you bought after that.

I, like you, bought into the European experience with the intention of living in another country to escape the Rat Race (UK)

Buying property outside of the EU is not as easy as you think. Being part of the EU and buying in the EU as it stands is easy.

I can't honestly believe what I'm reading Mounts. All this moaning about getting out of the fire - only to go and jump straight back into it. You are literally choosing to head straight back onto the EU. Fuck me - I mean I hope you have a great time and all but Jesus Christ it's hilarious!

Bollocks! Swathes of condos in Orlando and other parts of Florida are owned by Brits.  That argument is as false as the one that outside the EU you have to spend and inordinate amount of time to pass borders. It is a myth!

I didn't say it wasn't possible, I said it wasn't easy. That isn't false.

Each country has its own regulations. Being part of the EU and buying in the EU is/was easy

Each country has agencies that smooth transitions. No more or less hassle than buying in the EU.

I'm sure you could buy a nice place in North Korea if you know the right people.

I'm not sure all those poor fuckers who had their homes torn down in Spain because they retrospectively changed the rules think being in the EU made things easier.

I don't know the hassle involved but is it really harder for say a Russian than a Pole to buy a property here in the EU?
