Biggish Dave Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 I thought Karacan looked reasonable on Saturday and given his history, looks capable of holding his own in the championship. Our problem would be the championship is getting stronger and we are worse than we were a few years ago. Never mind Beevers magic hat, PP will have to weave some magic Quote
Zico Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Agree. Is karacan worth a punt for those that have seen him. No transfer fee. Personally, not sure about Alf either. If we're going to continue to launch it, then maybe go for another big fucker, ideally with a bit of pace. he's still got 5 in 14, and got 8 in 17 last time same with clough, people weren't sorry to see him go but he wasn't being utliised properly hugging the touchline we need a goal scorer and he's probably as good as we're going to get unless we unearth a Ricketts from somewhere we're most likely to end up with another proctor or we can try not just hoofing it Quote
bolty58 Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Keep hearing this 'hoofing it' accusation. Big Sam used to face the same accusations and yet once again this season, his genius is confirmed. Quote
famouswanderer Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Im firmly of the opinion that i couldnt give a fuck about hoof ball tactics aslong as we win more than we lose. The problem lies with when it doesn't work, it looks fucking horrific. But as i say, ill take that all day long and be second in the league. Quote

Was saying on way back Saturday if results work out and we go up and Brum go down would happily swap Maxine for Juke. One thing this season has shown is that there are decent player inLeague One who could do a job higher up. We have a sound defence to build on at least. Edited April 24, 2017 by Ani Quote

Must be frustrating. Presumably Alf played with Karacan at Reading; maybe there's an understanding to explore? Quote
Casino Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 im certainly not worried that we wont be able to compete aye, the top end is a rich league but we can aim to top the bottom eight and see where that takes us for each newcastle, theres a burton, so to speak and we've got a manager who values results over owt else, which is how it needs top be anybody whinging about style can go and find where coyle is and clap like fcuking demented seals Quote

Remember the crazy gang at Wimbledon? Three big bullies up top- people hated it but mainly players found it hard to cope with. Quote
Guest Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Agree with that, just wonder what Alf himself would make of it. Must be frustrating. Presumably Alf played with Karacan at Reading; maybe there's an understanding to explore? ALF plays well with Madine. Not sure what the issue is really. Obviously we need to make sure we've got another big man up front next season for when Madine is out. But ALF is as good a goalscorer as we will get. Quote
Eddie Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Don't get this Madine love in all of a sudden, don't get me wrong I want everyone who pulls on a white shirt to do well but fuck me he's a fanny, every time on Saturday when he fucked up he held his shoulder, I thought you played football with your feet, if he was that bad PP should've hooked him off earlier He's played 35 games this season - we've won 24, drawn 6, lost 5 and scored nearly 2 goals per game. Without him we've won 0, drawn 5, lost 5 and scored a grand total of 2 goals. That's why there's a 'love in' for me. I don't even think he's a particularly good player - if we go up I'd just about have him on the bench as a back up target man and wouldn't be happy if he was in the starting 11 (league one is his league IMO) but I just think he gets some unfair shit seen as he's clearly so important to us at the moment. gonzo Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Most rational people can see what he means to our set up. Most rational people can also see the guy was an utter bell and and shit house last season. You cant blame folk being less than convinced and maybe being a little harsh on him earlier this season after last. At the minute he's integral. He didn't used to be. It's pretty simple really. Quote

Thought he had a poor game on Saturday though; didn't win nowt in the air But still hope he is fit and starts Sunday Quote
Mounts Kipper Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Thought he had a poor game on Saturday though; didn't win nowt in the air But still hope he is fit and starts Sunday Hard to get any leverage when you are jumping with 1 arm. I really hope he's fit Sunday we're a different proposition with him playing. Quote
gonzo Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Thought he had a poor game on Saturday though; didn't win nowt in the air But still hope he is fit and starts Sunday Scored the winner and attracted fouls in the final 3rd. That's the plan ???? I wouldnt have him anywhere near a training pitch this week. Stay at home and let his new Mrs pipe him off all week. Quote
Matt Lofthouse Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 I'd like to keep the defenders we have. Spearing and Vela. ALF can stay too if they'll let him. Alnwick is possibly the pick of the 3 keepers Phil Morris?! Quote
frank_spencer Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Phil Morris?!Not sure he'd be any cop in the division up. His delivery has been excellent though so if the money is right then he deserves a shot. Quote
Casino Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 for me, he works hard enough to be good defensively even if his only creativity is from dead balls. hes definitely a keeper Quote
SoberDan Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 ALF was used almost exclusively as an impact sub at Reading. As for Jem well McDermott pretty much built the team that was promoted to the premiership around Jem Karacan but he hasent performed at anywhere near those levels so far. Hopefully they both score at the Madejski next season. Quote
passmosster Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Except when he scored a hat trick in the first half in the 7-1. My Reading supporting mate reckons that the Championship is a lot worse than it was. Quote
enzo gambaro Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 My Reading supporting mate reckons that the Championship is a lot worse than it was. I'd take that with a pinch of salt, but I'm encouraged by there being two teams in the play offs who are barely breaking even on goal difference. Quote
Casino Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 and if we go up second, we are better than at least one team another point is while our wage bill will drop, we may we be able to get better players in ive seen a fair few this season that looked like they would improve us and we could blow their current wages out of the water Quote

And the Premier League loan market. Quote
Rizlar Posted April 25, 2017 Author Posted April 25, 2017 Parky did state earlier in the season about a few players he thought could do the business in the championship 1 being Morris at Scunny. Quote
