Moderators Casino Posted November 11, 2017 Author Moderators Share Posted November 11, 2017 Are you suggesting we build a new stadium that potentially we could afford if we were league 1 or 2? Don't sound like great idea to me, smacks of lack of ambition probably cost another 10-15 million as well, and we end up worse off and never in a postion to realistically compete at championship level let alone premiership. Barm pot of a thought. You'd be dangerous if you just engaged your brain for a minute What I'm saying is we wouldn't be able to run the macron in Stockports league It's already showing signs of neglect

These signs of neglect might cost million or 2 to put right a new stadium would cost 10-15 million maybe more. There is no alternative to the Macron. Moderators Carlos Posted November 11, 2017 Moderators Share Posted November 11, 2017 They've had 3k plus this season it's 10k capacity it's not too big for them should they have ambition of once again being a league club and we're 1 promotion from premier league. As for moving back to central Bolton well that truly is million miles off. One promotion from the Prem, fucking hell, we need to get out of the relegation spots first, and I'm a million miles off ???????????? Sweep
Close the upper tiers If we drop a division, and stay down that will have to happen. It'll be a sad day, but the upkeep of the whole ground would be far too much

If I was to put money on it, as it currently stands, I reckon were more likely to be in the bottom division again before the top one......unless some C-A-Ls wade in and rescue us
Youri McAnespie
Don't close the upper tiers, fill the stadium up to them with earth and then relay the pitch. When we get back in contention simply dig out the earth...simple.

Youri McAnespie
We might need to paint some of the earth surrounding the new pitch green too.

Site Supporter barryk32 Posted November 11, 2017 Site Supporter Share Posted November 11, 2017 Apologising for the term chingaling, on here? My favourite I think will always be the ANC being referred to as a darkies kick about.
SimonT
Regarding the stadium being too big if we where lower down the league ladder. If you consider that the electricity bill is £1million a year, I would say a lower league club would find that kind of thing crippling. It's bad enough now at championship level. The place needs a good clean and paint. Think of the costs associated with that. What I'm saying is a facility such as the Macron can be too much to maintain for a lower league club. Unfortunately there is no alternative. I'm sure we will be fine though.

SimonT
AgaIn though. How much does that actually cost? It all add up. It's a Huge building of which a large majority is empty most days. Edited November 11, 2017 by SimonT

radcliffe white
Why we had 20k plus for a League 1 game, we just need a 1/2 decent team, surely that's the plan. joking mate

SimonT
Yes. I was taking all that into Consideration. Even on a good day I would say 60% of the stadium is empty if you don't count the stands obviously. SimonT
Exactly . You are totally missing the point. Owning such a huge facility like the macron Stadium comes with huge overheads empty or full.. If you have a good well-paid job you can afford to run a large house. You can afford to heat it, power it and maintain it.if you lose that good job you may no longer be able to afford to run such a large house. whether a house is full or empty similar overheads still apply. Yes you may save a bit on electricity and heating but your rent and your council tax and maintenance don't really change . My point is Bolton Wanderers currently have a job if you want to put it that way that barely keep their head above water. How could the club afford to keep hold of such a large facility in a lower league? You see others manage. And yes they do but they tend to have huge revenues. It's an inherent problem with football stadiums. They are extremely expensive to build and maintain and also cover a large area which brings its own problems. It's very difficult to get any sort of stadium to pay its way. That is why a lot of stadiums her bill for multi purposes. Look at Tranmere Rovers or Stockport County. Are you telling me right now but the people paying the bills bills football clubs which at this moment in time they had a little bit of a smaller ground . Surely if Bolton Wanderers were relegated to league one Or kindred league two and ended up staying there, would the really be Able able to keep hold of Macron stadium. must be near impossible. RoadRunnerFan
Lastly, I'd happily see us move back to BL1/BL2, to a stadium built for fans, not in the middle of nowhere next to a soulless retail park. H Town is the beating heart of the entire universe. Didn't you get the memo?

We'd still need a stadium 2. Who would buy ours off us? 3. Who would pay for the new one? 4. Where would Bolton Council allow it to be built? I'm a fucking moron, so you'll need to spoon feed me the answers in short words.
