Winding Up Orders

Last I heard, it was court tomorrow

ST and Lies reported 3, including Heathcotes mob

KA said that was old news, leaving 2

Now, I can see HMRC is definitely a club issue, but the other is Sport Shield

If we assume KA can deal with HMRC debt - I'd have been happier if he had sorted that one already, tbf- that 'just' leaves SS and blumarble

If the court agrees to wind up SS, do we know what that means and also the impact on BWFC

  • The harsh reality is that name of the club has been dragged through the dirt in last few years. Massive debts, relegation, players not being paid etc etc.   Go back to when KA was first linked he w

  • Mounts had a word and told them the financial benefit of having a football stadium 300 yards away

  • Imagine that, a site that represents BWFC's hardcore support being pro-the bloke who has saved us from oblivion. Just fucking imagine that.

Someone needs to let the Trafford centre know they are missing a trick here.

Whack 12k footy fans next to it every other Saturday, that'll boost their trade :D

You seem to forget OT is five minutes away it's crawling with united shirts at weekend, granted they have massive crowds but it's still beneficial to middlebrook shops when Bolton at home as retail is all about footfall. I'd stop digging yourself a hole if I was you.????

I'm not saying the article is 100% accurate what I'm saying is that the club is a vital part of the community one that generates millions of pounds, either by bringing folk into the area or town, the club itself employs 100s of people be that full time or part time, people who spend that money in the economy and therefore over the years spend millions of Pounds in the local economy that money wouldn't be there if the football club did not exist. If you want to see an area blighted by having the football club extracted check out Manchester road Burnden

You're a fantasist mate.

It's been widely reported that the club was accruing net debt of a million per month just on players wages until Anderson was able to get most of them off the payroll at the end of the previous two seasons.

That's £12 million a year net loss (and I don't mean net of tax and NI but nett of total payment - the club being able to fund part of the wages itself from monthly revenue).

The lions share of that being paid to the players.

How many of those players live in Bolton and spend all there money here?

Nearly all of them would be taking their millions of pounds out of Bolton's economy to spend elsewhere on their mansions, flash cars and piss-ups.

Even if we take Moores fantasy sum of 'probably' £30 million the club was generating for the local economy WHILST IN THE PREMIER DIVISION, then half of its left the area 'at a stroke' through the player wages that we pay/paid.

It's a no brainer that Moores article was simply fabricated and untrue, and that whilst the club does attract some money into the local economy its impact is marginal - otherwise why wasn't there a wave of job losses and businesses shutting down when we lost the SKY money when we were relegated, the visitor numbers consequently dropped and Anderson started his purge on the stupid contracts he inherited at the club?

They never happened, which underlines the fact that the local economy wasn't/isn't interdependent on the club success or failure.

Just because you want to believe the club generates millions for the town doesn't mean that it does - and there seems to be no hard evidence at all showing it is or was.

The retail park won't let football fans park on the land.

Coast to coast don't serve ale before or after the game.

The bowling alley used to discourage football fans.

Traffic is murder every time a match is on and will discourage people to go at those times.

To me there's only scotts that actively try and attract football fans.

Like I say it's a hinderance. If i wanted to go Xmas shopping I'd stay well away from there an match day. Very few will combine the both imo.

You always see plenty of nobs walking out of asda with a trolley full at about 5pm on a match day

mentalists, surely they know!?

IF football crowds are so beneficial to Middlebrook, why don't they provide free parking for us? As Gonch points out.

Migglebrook has been massively successful, the 60 being fucked and closed J12-J8 every night had made the TC a no go area for people this side. I'm sure they are over the moon that we are playing Burton Albion at home on the busiest shopping weekend of the year.

Which bit(s) of what he has posted is bollocks?

The couple of hours or so during the match, is ideal for the football disinterested house wife.

Shopping done free from anyone else, a relaxed coffee and do one before the final whistle. Or at least chilled enough to wait for hubby and kids and put up with traffic.

All of it.

fair enough, I really didn't know

For what it's worth, if the football club moved away, I don't really think the Middlebrook would suffer too much at all, in fact it might actually benefit if more shops, restaurants and bars etc were built on the bit where the ground is now.

Does the club generate money for the town? - probably, but I doubt it's enough money that the threat of it going out of existence would make a great deal of difference to the general coffers of the town , especially the town centre, which I'm not sure benefits at all now from Bolton Wanderers

A much poorer place Bolton would be without the football club doubt I would have have ever visited the town centre if I wasn't a Bolton fan, over the years I must have spent 10s of thousands of pounds in Bolton and that came about because of my love for the football club.

And Ann Summers will always be grateful! ;-)

Ha Ha I like it. Have a + 1  :)

The Burnden area was a dump when BWFC was based on Manny Road...It's hardly gone downhill, units have changed usage and there's new units and the odd one or two are obsolete and dilapidated - Churchills being the sole example that could be attributed to the loss of a football club.

Pete Shah's was hardly Fortnum and Mason. The area has changed, but for those uninterested in football locals they'd probably claim the commercial (not residential) aspects of the area have improved; gym, Subway, travel agents, mobile phone store, supermarkets, cafe etc.

I buy a coffee in tesco when I park on there for free each home game

2.50 over 23 games

57.50 a season

Not much but every little helps as they say (that will be my defence if I ever got collared)

Went in fairly recently after a match as the missus picked us up. Plenty of fans came in gathering a few essentials (mainly ale)- must have spent a fair bit all told.

It didn't.

Shahid who was head waiter/manager now owns it outright and changed the name.

Couple of years ago after a match mate of mine tries to buy a bottle of wine. Check out lad asks him if he's been at the match. He thinks he's just making conversation, says yes, lad said he couldn't serve him.

Weird that. Unless there's certain matches whereby police can put some time limits on it?

When I was in there were people in shirts and scarves getting served no problem.

There was a no booze after games until (I think) seven until relatively recently. Tesco used to have the booze aisle roped off.
