That’s really not it.

It’s a factor, but we keep being told we’ve the best economy in the EU, so things like this shouldn’t be happening so often.

Sorry I’m just going off the article you posted.

I’m going off what the MD told me before also telling me he wouldn’t be paying what he owes us.

This comment after the article most likely nails the reason.

Take a look at their Googe Reviews - and it seems that they were an accident waiting to happen - a LOT of very dis-satisfied clients ! Yet still they seemed to be winning work - possibly by undercutting their competitors but now cannot make a profit ?

Wait

Someone put a bad google review on for a contractor??? Wowwww, well that’s that cleared up then.

I assume you’ve done loads of social housing stuff with them as well then? I mean, not that I disbelieve a disgruntled Google reviewer, but I’d prefer your personal take of dealing with them.

Your personal experience will obviously have a bearing on your views. That’s normal.
Mine go back to 1999 when the decision to move the manufacturing of the company I worked for from Bolton to Lutin, Czech Republic, because of lower labour costs meant the closure of a company that had been in the town for over 150 years. It happens all the time. Picking individual cases proves nothing.

Bullshit. You’re full of it.

See we can all question personal experiences

Tomlinsons is a larger example of what is happening a little too much this year unfortunately.

A lot of smaller contractors have disappeared due to a lack of work, and general chat amongst the others is of a shrinking market.

Thats not just my view and no I don’t record these conversations to post on here before anyone asks.

The end result is a few hundred people looking for work at a time when mortgages are flying up.

I haven’t questioned yours.

And it’s not bollocks, I certainly don’t need to prove it ☺️

Doubt we will people on both sides will spin it as best/worst deal that sellsout/honours the referendum.

Then we will spend the next few years blaming every bad bit of economic news on Brexit or the fact the deal was compromised or it would have happened anyway. With every good bit of news being claimed by Brexit or it would have been better with a stronger/weaker/no deal or it would have happened anyway.

Visionary, predicted 3 years ago that both sides would spend next few years spinning every bit of economic news one way or another.

Most accurate post on this thread .

😊 Can’t disagree. Although my post on the original thread, ‘in or out’, when I said it wasn’t worth the economic or political turmoil it would cause must be up there. 👍

I had other posts that said I voted Remain as I just thought we would make a mess of leaving if that wins ?

😊 You can have it. Seems the original thread was deleted. It would have been interesting to see the comments prior to the vote. It happened though. I’ve always said we should make the most of it. I’m just one of those who wants to look forward rather than back. (Apart from the occasional reminiscing)

New Zealand have beaten us to it.

No Rishi is just doing his due diligence and ensuring that non of our tax payers money gets wasted on fine wine. Fuck the major boost it will have for an incredibly important sector in this country. We also have plenty of other shite we can 'waste' our own money on. If it can make one or two rich fuckers even wealthier better that than sending it to Johnny foreigner.

I was with you until this point.

Get rid of the remaining EU laws and ECHR bollocks before agreeing to this. Cut all the old links and impress upon that blundering bureaucracy that any agreements from here on in are conditional on the complete understanding that this will in no way imply any sort of interest in rejoining their exclusive lunch club.

It’s not rocket science, company winning plenty of contracts and still goes bust, thin margins, increase in raw material costs erases any margin resulting in running at a loss, inevitable outcome.

Somebody, somewhere has been paying Liz feckin Truss £16,000 an hour to speak. Christ. She could be stood in my garden and I'd shut the blinds and turn the telly up.

Labour, plant inc fuel and materials the three main elements of any construction price have all massively increased. Added to the way that main contracting works in the UK (and most other places) we are likely going to see a lot more construction firms going to the wall in the near future.
