Then wasted the best part of a decade fannying around with Brexit and cutting ourselves off from our largest trading partner - with no real vision about where to go thereafter. The country is worse in every conceivable way. How anybody can still be defending this utter shower is completely beyond me. I'd genuinely rather hand over control directly the the EU than put up with another decade of this utter shite. Stop chatting shit. Quote

During lockdown, it was discussed widely on here about the consequences of the cost. People were happy to take the free money then. All countries have debt. Almost 20% of ours is down the COVID. Other countries was more some less. Your pension pot will be benefiting though. Quote

But the Tories said they were a party that reduced debt and managed the economy “properly”. Another lie, to throw on the enormous bonfire of whoppers they’ve told for 12 years. Quote

Between 2008 to 2010 the debt jumped by about 40%. In came the Tories steady but slow increase in debt before it started to fall. Then suddenly….. You can make of it what you will. Quote

Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted October 8, 2023 Site Supporter Posted October 8, 2023 Quite revealing chart. Huge increase following the financial crash, and subsequent quantitative easing. Not unique to this country neither. Debts mounting everywhere. Then the pandemic and war with their own inputs. Can't keep borrowing and spending to such levels. Whoever gets in isn't going to be wazzing the cash around. Quote
BobyBrno Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 (edited) My graph is also as a percentage of gdp which is more relevant. BD gave a detailed analysis of QE. The BOE and other central banks seem to get off lightly when accusations are being thrown around. Edited October 8, 2023 by BobyBrno Quote

If genuinely rather be governed by the EU than this pile of retrograde tosspots. They're literally taking the country backwards and have for as long as they've been in office. I'd take a steady pair of hands at the helm over this shower. Even if it wasn't a pair of our own hands. Luckily - we'll be shot of the tossers soon and we can get back to some semblance of normality. Quote

Not in Crawley Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 Are we all ready for next week? Waiting in the slips for any slip ups those who claim not to support the Conservative party but then seemingly defend every decision over the last 13 years because it makes young people and Hollywood actors moan, and women with a Northern accent seem to send them into a fit of pique or summert (oh and they're not Sheeple) Then anyone else hoping for something a better than the last 13 years. Biggest conference for the Labour Party in over a decade. Quote

Or sticking up for the normal Palestinian folk whose lives are likely to become even more royalty fucked thanks to the actions of Hamas and the yank backed repercussions coming from Israel. It's a fucking mess and those in charge on either side can't seem to fucking behave. Edited October 8, 2023 by frank_spencer Quote
