kent_white Posted June 8, 2025 Posted June 8, 2025 Just thinking on about our Wanderersways Face Covering White Paper...... We're going to need to give some guidance to the police. Under our new legislation - which of the following are we arresting? And what is the punishment? Quote

I'm sure I do this at times too - so feel free to pull me up on it too when I do! 😁 Quote

So as long as they're freshly showered and don't have their faces covered - you're alright with it? Looking at my post above then - where would you draw the line on how significant the face covering should be to warrant arrest or a fine etc? And what would be a reasonable punishment. Also - do they get the punishment straight away - or are the police allowed to ask them to take it off first and then punish them if they refuse? Quote

Well that and a whole lot of other things but that’s for another time. As for your list. Obviously common sense needs to be applied. Is anyone dressing as a gorilla daily? I doubt it. If you’re going in public places, I.e. shopping centres, banks, shops etc then there’s no need for any of those to be worn. Police or security should ask them to remove it (security already do in some places). Punishment is obviously death by hanging. Quote
Sweep Posted June 8, 2025 Posted June 8, 2025 Not sure if this is acceptable, I need to know before I buy it Quote

The problem is - you have to write the legislation that can be applied equally to everybody, irrespective of why they're wearing something. So - yeah if someone is wearing a gorilla costume on a night out - do they get arrested? Or is fancy dress exempt? Quote

It won't get through parliament or the lord's if you leave it as subjective as that. It's a shite piece of legislation as it stands. Specifically - what is the law. Is it a full face covering including the eyes, and that's all? It's dead easy to say 'ban all face coverings'. It's much harder to actually come up with something workable. And what punishment are we giving out? You dodged that one by giving a daft answer. And are we punishing people for wearing them straight away? Or only if they refuse to take it off? Remember - I'm not necessarily in disagreement providing you could get a law to pass that is consistent and actually resolves a problem. I'm just trying to point out how difficult that would be - and why it would be a nightmare to enforce. Quote

As a self employed security Guru I’m in no position to say what punishments should be handed out but here’s what a few of our neighbours do. Denmark police will be able to instruct women to remove their veils or order them to leave public areas. The country's justice minister, Søren Pape Poulsen, said officers would fine them and tell them to go home. Fines will range from 1,000 Danish krone (£120) for a first offence to 10,000 krone for a fourth. France France, wearing a burqa or other face-covering veil in public spaces is illegal. The penalty for violating this law is a fine of €150, which can be accompanied or substituted by compulsory citizenship classes. Additionally, anyone forcing a person to wear a face-covering veil can face a fine of €30,000 and a prison sentence of up to one year. Austria Austria, wearing a burqa (or any other face covering that conceals facial features) in public is prohibited and punishable by a fine of up to €150. The ban, known as the "Anti-Face-Covering Act," aims to ensure that individuals are identifiable in public spaces. Once common sense is applied then there’s absolutely no reason why folk should be cutting about with their faces covered Edited June 8, 2025 by royal white Quote

There are not enough police to process shoplifting and house break ins plus the increasing cyber crime levels. I’d rather they concentrated on that. Quote

They are not able to address shoplifting let alone face masks. Quote

Which one are you picking? And which fine? See Austria "wearing a burqa (or any other face covering that conceals facial features". It'll be more detailed than that in the guidance. Wearing a pair of sunglasses is a face covering that conceals facial features. And you want this to be enforced by the people who fine cigarette butt droppers? Not the police? Quote
