Another way of looking at it is 'the spread' has taken over 30 years to move from The Lamb to the Crofters on Halliwell Rd and from Rileys to The Briarfield on Blackburn Road.

Maybe - but 30 years ago - the areas in between weren't almost exclusively populated my Muslims. I remember it being much more of a mix. That's not the reality anymore. And the shops and the buildings and the sineage and the colours, and the sights and the smells have changed to reflect that change in demography. As you would expect.

I don't think that division was quite as pronounced back when I was growing up.

And look. I'm pro immigration and pro asylum seekers instinctually. But even I think there's only so much integrating a town can do in a very relatively short period of time before it leads inevitably to tensions.

We're human beings at the end of the day. We're territorial by nature, and if you start to feel out of place in your own home, then that's going to stir up some anger.

Maybe if everyone felt like they were benefitting from it, then things might be different? Or if more investment was put into places where the most integration needs to take place? Places like Bolton. Then things would be a lot smoother.

I wish I had some answers.......!

 The fucking irony.

I'm still waiting for an answer from you. You and Spaz Nob have been beseeching for the assassination of the US President on here. The murder of Mark and Melissa Hortman? Presumably the murder of elected representatives is 'fair game' for the likes of you?

I'm not convinced that it can. And it's going to get worse, not better.

I think the days of a homogeneous society are well gone.

Worse as in what?

Better than what?

Just curious as to what you think.

Are you ready join the far right thicko club?

People have absolutely no idea how hard it is not to pay tax when you're self employed or a small business owner.

That ship sailed a long time ago.

Oh I know only to well. Even in my detached reality 😉

But there is no way some of the 'businesses' round here operate that way.

Calling folk a liar because they got something wrong or said something a bit daft 😂Thanks for proving my point.

I’m struggling to grasp fck all. And I’m not backing NIC either. He’s quite capable of looking after himself 👍

I do love being called a bullshitter though from RW 😁

Aye

Whilst I technically pay less than I did when I was employed, I now don't get paid holidays or sick leave or pension payments

I can't toss a day off sat at my desk hungover doing fuck all and still get paid

Or pull a sickie

It evens itself out I'm sure

I didn't go it alone to avoid tax either

Is the your company not paying for your pension directly? This would reduce your corporation tax liability at least.

The company can also pay for a "relevant life" insurance policy. It's the same as life insurance only it's usually cheaper, it's corporation tax deductible and isn't classed as a benefit in kind so there is no personal tax to pay either

Yeah, we've just sorted all this out - company of three and it's sorted out us paying for life insurance individually as we were doing.

That's a low point of anyone's life.

Just catching with last nights flurry of nonsense.

Anyone saying self employed lads doing jobs round people houses like kitchen and bathroom fitting do not do jobs cash in hand is talking shit

Anyone saying all self employed lads working day on sites are all getting paid cash in hand is talking shit. Once you have had to register on site for safety records etc or prove you have liability cover you get paid through the books.

All the rest of petty insults flying round are also shit.

Not aimed at you Boby, but surely Andrew should be better than ‘bollocks peddled by numpties’ ?

I know and I did use the word scepticism. I think the numpty thing was him being self deprecating. It was he who was spreading the nonsense. I think, like me, he’d had a drink.😉

Tbf ( and to give some balance) as a source it should be pretty sound.

Although he may well have had a bottle of wine !

Rife in Athy with window cleaners

There's certainly a lot of law abiding citizens in here who earn every single bit of their wages and never swing the lead, claim a few expenses here or there or spend their work time on here :)
