Ta. probably because of the momentum Farage has, and they feel it's in the public interests to know the measure of the man who folk might vote for to be the leader of the UK the C4 link posted from 13 years ago sums it up https://www.channel4.com/news/nigel-farage-ukip-letter-school-concerns-racism-fascism so on the one hand Channel 4 News has uncovered strong evidence that teachers at Dulwich thought Nigel Farage was “racist”, and “fascist” or “neo-fascist”. “Another colleague, who teaches the boy, described his publicly professed racist and neo-fascist views; and he cited a particular incident in which Farage was so offensive to a boy in his set, that he had to be removed from the lesson. " Farage and others had marched through a quiet Sussex village very late at night shouting Hitler-youth songs. and then on the other hand Terry Walsh, who was then deputy master at Dulwich (ie. deputy head), says Farage was well known for provoking people, especially left-wing English teachers who had no sense of humour. The former master of Dulwich David Emms, the man who appointed Farage and received Chloe Deakin’s letter, says he has no memory of the meeting or the letter. But he agrees with his former deputy: “It was naughtiness, not racism,” Emms told me on Wednesday. “I didn’t probe too closely into that naughtiness, but the staff were fed up with his cheekiness and rudeness. They wanted me to expel him, but I saw his potential, made him a prefect, and I was proved right.” it's clearly an issue for some people, who may now not decide to vote him and it won't be an issue for others, who will happily vote for him nothing wrong with putting it out there, letting people know who he is and what he's about, it's not like he's denying it Quote

Can't even watch Tom & Jerry cartoons these days FFS Quote

Fuck me, you're not half dancing around on the head of a pin to make excuses for an obvious racist. Where did I say that? You said the Grange Hill clip was raising awareness. I say that language would never even be close to being used in today's world. There's plenty of other examples, on main stream TV, from comedy to drama where it's completely clear we are now living in different times. Even an argumentative wally like yourself can see that. I couldn't give a fuck about Nigel Farage, the bloke could be the biggest racist on the planet. I don't give a fuck. Bertie asked if there was a threshold for racist language. I'm saying clearly there is. Dragging up stuff from 40+ years ago is fucking ridiculous. Quote

People said Racist things back then that they'd never dream of saying today. That's not a defence, it's just how it is. I'd rather judge Farage on his actions in today's standards rather than those of 40 years ago. Would you be ok if people bought up your actions from when you were a child/teenager and judged you on them now? You OK if your bosses at BAE found out you were a drug taker and judged you on getting off your face 20 years ago? Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 Farage will inwardly be laughing at all this. It means his political opponents are running scared. It will continue until the next election. Fuck knows what was said at the time, if anything, but on the balance of probably he probably did make some joke or similar. I, and I'm sure everyone, at some point in their childhood passed on some sick joke or other, without necessarily understanding its connotations. Including those who now are trying their hardest to bring him down. Quote

He also didn't just make the odd joke but I agree that stuff from 40 years ago in school/college just isn't going to land imo. Quote
Ani Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 The whole idea that this was just one of those things say is frankly bollocks. We are not saying he talked about the packi shop or that used the N word on the odd occasion it is about an ongoing pattern of behaviour. Not when he was a young kid but in his mid to late teenage years. The only reason he will be laughing about it because it taking over from Russia chat. I ask again does anyone honestly think (opinion no facts of proof needed) that he knew nothing about Russian influence and bribery within his party and one of his closest and nearest political allies of the time ? So because one human being is an a different job to another human being he has to be judged on things he said or did when he was a child? And when he was a child in a completely different time with different standards? You clearly have a job with responsibilities. Would you be happy if you were judged on your behaviour as a child now? Would you not Nigel Farage be judged on his behaviour and values today than 40 years ago? Reckon if you trawled back through everyone's behaviour as a child or teenager and judged them in today's world as adults you'd have no fucker left in employment. Quote

It's his choice to stand as the leader of a political party aiming to become Government, and the intense scrutiny that comes with that is part of the job. He's quite clearly a racist by today's standards anyway. He just tiptoes around certain words and phrases that have become socially unacceptable. Edited November 25, 2025 by Cheese Quote

Sweep Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 I'm not sure it really matters what he may or may not have said 40 years ago. Is he a racist? - I don't doubt for one minute that he is, and I suspect most of his supporters know he is, doesn't mean it'll stop him getting voted into power though. Although, as I've said several times, I'll be surprised if he's still leading Reform come the next GE Quote

I keep thinking back to my school days (Hayward Grammar), we had mock-elections where 6th formers stood as candidates... Headmaster stopped them eventually as all the kids voted National Front no matter what debates were attempted... would you pillory the 6th Former who stepped forward as the NF Candidate all those years ago?
