Were Love Thy Neighbour, Bernard Manning or any other mainstream comedy raising awareness then?

Give over.

It was a completely different time.

The few things that actually make me laugh out loud... Benny Hill and Kenny Everitt Video Show.

Saw Manning a few times in the day... funniest man ever.

Can't even watch Tom & Jerry cartoons these days FFS

So Farage was trying his hand at an early comedy career? Fuck me, you're not half dancing around on the head of a pin to make excuses for an obvious racist.

Where did I say that? You said the Grange Hill clip was raising awareness. I say that language would never even be close to being used in today's world.

There's plenty of other examples, on main stream TV, from comedy to drama where it's completely clear we are now living in different times.

Even an argumentative wally like yourself can see that.

I couldn't give a fuck about Nigel Farage, the bloke could be the biggest racist on the planet. I don't give a fuck.

Bertie asked if there was a threshold for racist language. I'm saying clearly there is.

Dragging up stuff from 40+ years ago is fucking ridiculous.

Yet here you are, jumping to his defence. The cunt is probably going to be our Prime Minister in a few years. His racist and fascistic tendencies might not matter to you, but they do to most of the general public.

Americans don’t seem care about having criminals/rapists in charge.

I’d like to think we’re different.

There were some people that still actually went out voted for the same people that embezzled the country out of millions during covid, handled the situation like a chimps tea party, enabled the worst migrant crisis the country has ever seen and before all that lead us off a fucking cliff by leaving the EU.

Our people would vote for Harold Shipman if he said he'd stop the boats.

Tell me where I've defended him. Go on.

In what way is "It was a different time" NOT a defence of someone being racist in the past? 😂

If folk think Farage will lose support over some playground name calling over 40 years ago the  then they are sadly mistaken, given the current climate I wouldn’t be surprised if it boosts his ratings

No Bertie asked if there was a threshold, I'm saying bringing stuff up from 40 years ago, when times were much different, is ridiculous.

People said Racist things back then that they'd never dream of saying today.

That's not a defence, it's just how it is.

I'd rather judge Farage on his actions in today's standards rather than those of 40 years ago.

Would you be ok if people bought up your actions from when you were a child/teenager and judged you on them now?

You OK if your bosses at BAE found out you were a drug taker and judged you on getting off your face 20 years ago?

Farage will inwardly be laughing at all this.

It means his political opponents are running scared.

It will continue until the next election.

Fuck knows what was said at the time, if anything, but on the balance of probably he probably did make some joke or similar.

I, and I'm sure everyone, at some point in their childhood passed on some sick joke or other, without necessarily understanding its connotations.

Including those who now are trying their hardest to bring him down.

I'm not running to be Prime Minister, you utter clown.

To be fair this has been in the public domain for years, nothing to do with politicians running scared.

He also didn't just make the odd joke but I agree that stuff from 40 years ago in school/college just isn't going to land imo.

The whole idea that this was just one of those things say is frankly bollocks.

We are not saying he talked about the packi shop or that used the N word on the odd occasion it is about an ongoing pattern of behaviour. Not when he was a young kid but in his mid to late teenage years.

The only reason he will be laughing about it because it taking over from Russia chat.

I ask again does anyone honestly think (opinion no facts of proof needed) that he knew nothing about Russian influence and bribery within his party and one of his closest and nearest political allies of the time ?

Of course he knew, Ani but the fucker is teflon.

So because one human being is an a different job to another human being he has to be judged on things he said or did when he was a child?

And when he was a child in a completely different time with different standards?

You clearly have a job with responsibilities. Would you be happy if you were judged on your behaviour as a child now?

Would you not Nigel Farage be judged on his behaviour and values today than 40 years ago?

Reckon if you trawled back through everyone's behaviour as a child or teenager and judged them in today's world as adults you'd have no fucker left in employment.

Good job. Your racist comments on here wouldn’t look good.

He's not going to be sacked ffs. It's his choice to stand as the leader of a political party aiming to become Government, and the intense scrutiny that comes with that is part of the job. He's quite clearly a racist by today's standards anyway. He just tiptoes around certain words and phrases that have become socially unacceptable.

If that is true then god help us. We are truly screwed as a nation if more people choose to vote for someone because they had been openly racist in their past (however long ago). RIP UK.

Fkinell 😂😂

I'm not sure it really matters what he may or may not have said 40 years ago.

Is he a racist?  - I don't doubt for one minute that he is, and I suspect most of his supporters know he is, doesn't mean it'll stop him getting voted into power though.

Although, as I've said several times, I'll be surprised if he's still leading Reform come the next GE

Not really. I just find the thought of my fellow Brits actually deciding to vote for a politician because some legacy racist comments/behaviours of his have come to light truly appalling.

What’s your take on this? Do you think it’s a good thing? Does it make you proud to be a Brit?

If he just stood up and said “I don’t like pakis” I reckon he’d get the biggest majority Parliament has ever seen.

I keep thinking back to my school days (Hayward Grammar), we had mock-elections where 6th formers stood as candidates... Headmaster stopped them eventually as all the kids voted National Front no matter what debates were attempted... would you pillory the 6th Former who stepped forward as the NF Candidate all those years ago?

Yeah I think I honestly might if that person wanted to be my prime minister.

PS - Deane > Hayward 😉😁
