Didn't realise @bolty58 went to Hayward

Not really. I just find the thought of my fellow Brits actually deciding to vote for a politician because some legacy racist comments/behaviours of his have come to light truly appalling.

What’s your take on this? Do you think it’s a good thing? Does it make you proud to be a Brit?

Your stupidity has no limits? My take? It’s a none story, I have no doubt Starmer said some bad things in school, as would most people, regardless of sides. Some would have been involved in fights! How mad is that? It’s what happened in schools 40 years ago.

As for your first paragraph you don’t need to worry, Farage already Has millions of racists behind him (if you listen to people on here) a few more wouldn’t make much difference and you never know with his alleged anti-Semitic remarks he may persuade some Labour supporters to cross over.

He did say Mahmood was welcome!

Somewhat condescending that.

Your fellow Brits are free people and able to make up their own mind.

I doubt many, if any, will vote for him purely because he may or may not have said something stupid many years ago. That simply doesn't make any sense.

There may possibly be a few that won't vote for him on the basis that he may or may not have said something stupid many years ago. It would only be a tiny number though.

Those wishing to vote for him will have already made their mind up, and won't be swayed by a pretty poor attempt at political assassination.

He will nevertheless have to negotiate his way around these latest obstacles very delicately, but he's an astute politician- whether or not folk like him- and I doubt it will derail him.

What are you on about? Talk about going off piste. I was making a specific point in response to the specific point you made about the prospect of Farage’s historical comments actually influencing more people to vote for him. That’s all. If that were true (imho) that’s a really sad state of affairs.

(TMGJ - apologies if anything came across condescending - wasn’t meant)

Nothing is a surprise any more.

Just layer after layer of incompetence throughout government departments.

I actually have a tad of sympathy for ministers at times- they must be pulling their hair out- as they are repeatedly let down by the civil service.

Nevertheless, the buck stops with them, and it is they who make policy in the first place.

Based on my current view sat in the A&E dept at Bolton hospital, most of them are here.

Fuck me, our PM'S mate could eat an apple through a tennis racket 🎾

Budgets for me have always been a bit meh. Always gone with my Dad’s thinking that every government, no matter what colour, will take a load from you and pretend that you will get summat back in return. Some ne’er do well will stand holding a battered briefcase milking their time in the limelight inflating their own self-importance for the cameras whilst temporarily removing their snout from the trough

First time in decades I’ve taken an interest as I’ve got a horrible feeling that I’m going to be dry-botted tomorrow

The excuse of paying for the previous government’s mistakes simply won’t wash if trotted out. It’s a tired old cliche now used by every new government. Again, no matter what colour

They’re looking at serious prison time & the organisation was then proscribed a terrorist one.

The “imagine if it was far right thugs” doesn’t add up because they are rightly feeling the full force of the law. If it was the far right the outcome would be similar. There’s nothing ‘two tier’ about any of this.

Read the female coppers statement the other day, was grim. Wild footage as well, can’t believe that lass is moaning about being hurt at the end after everything she did 😂

Lucky nobody was killed when they rammed the place as well

Like Susan I was curious also so I asked AI

It says

Labour: 2 accused

Tory: 3 accused, 2 others convicted

DUP: 1 charged

SNP: 1 charged

So her party seems to be winning

Or losing

Depending how you look at it

The bit you said didn't add up, was a reference to certain people who would have made a million posts on here about it by now.

Regardless, like you say, very lucky nobody was killed, hope the key is thrown away

I was talking with a financier/ property developer I know today. His big concern was the uncertainty and avoidance of big decisions. We all know the Exchequer needs to raise more revenue and create more headroom but the government is avoiding raising the big ticket items, Income Tax, VAT, NI. Instead, they are going to make disproportionate big increases on lots of small items distorting the economy further.

He doesn't believe this will settle uncertainty as he and his ilk all know what needs to be done (the big items) and industry will delay the big decisions until after the next budget or whenever the government become more desperate.

I'm meeting with him next week and it'll be interesting to hear his opinion, especially as I do most of his building work!

There have been cases of far right thuggery in the news recently and not millions of posts about it on here.

You’re making something out of nothing.
