More hysteria from remainers. I look forward to the day when I can say I told you so. :blum: Of course that is assuming we can find a set of politicians who have the gumption to do the job.

Saying told you so from your little immigrant bolt hole in an EU country.

It may all work out well in the end. But the years of needless fucking about in between will take some time to get over.

And make any country thinking of leaving the EU think long and hard.

We are leaving because the EU will not give us control over our laws or our borders and want to continue to rinse us financially, if they also want to punish themselves and ourselves by insisting on not having a free trade deal with the UK then any blame for subsequent damage to both economies would lie squarely on the EUs shoulders.

What laws that the EU have brought in would you want changed?

We do have control of of our borders, we can refuse entry to any one we want.

That's what he was saying- things do work well, even though there are already some invisible borders.

It was his explanation that the technologies and systems that currently facilitate the open border can still be utilised and expanded to continue with this.

It was his assertion that the guys in the RoI know that but are just pushing for more.

Currently they are in a customs union. The issue is, that after Brexit they won't be. The border issues relate to that substantive change. How do you maintain an "open border" when there isn't a customs union between the two nations?

You'd have to speak to the DUP man. I don't know the details of his plan, but he seemed confident of it.

I know an mp commented in the recent debate, that by adopting EU standards into British law many goods would not need certain checks. Again, I don't know the 'science' behind it; so I'm happy to leave it to those who are trusted with sorting it out.

I think the issue is that people are waking up to the fact that it isn't as straightforward as the ridiculous Brexit campaign tried to con everyone into thinking it was. That isn't to say its impossible. Just that all this needed thinking about and planning for years ago, before any vote. As it hasn't we're winging it and trying to make up incredibly complex arrangements with ramifications all over the place without the preparatory work required.

have we finally decided this is true

I think the question was could we deport folk once they were here just because we wanted to.

i honestly thought eu citizens had total freedom of movement

tbh it doesnt bother me but thatd be the one thing that might have swung my opinion

EU Citizens do not need Visas to enter the UK as long as they have a valid EU passport they can wave it at the border and enter the U.K. That is wrong in my eyes especially given the current dangers of terrorism, EU nationals should in future have to go through the same controls and checks as other nationalities. To answer Franks question which laws do I want to change? the answer to this question is whatever our government feel fit to change and going forward complete control of future laws and legislation as the government sees fit.

Yes, we do have total Freedom of Movement. As an EU Citizen, you can live and work in any EU country you want - as long as you pay your taxes accordingly and don't have a criminal record. If you're convicted of a crime whilst there, or become dependant on the state, you can be sent back to your country of origin. The fact the UK might not have implemented these rules as strictly as other EU nations is the fault of our government, not the EU.

Everything is the fault of the EU. Remember that.

But I'm sure mounts is now going to sell his place in Spain and stop in the utopia that the UK will become according to him.

I’ll take my chance that that won’t happen same as I feel that salford trotters domesday predictions will disappear like the morning mist.

I haven't predicted the end of the world but i have suggested we will be worse of as a result. Although we are not at the end of the journey yet nothing you have suggested so far would happen has happened. However, lots of the predictions that and i and others on here have made are hitting home right now; chaotic negotiations; a stubborn EU wanting make an example of us; no membership of the single market without the other freedoms and many more.

And that’s the toxic mix right there that swung it for many, the conflation between freedom of movement within the EU and terrorist attacks.

As is pointed out, we can remove anyone at anytime if they don’t pay taxes or refuse work - if we don’t its not the EUs fault but own own sovereign government.

This isn't said enough. It's become an unspeakable truth. Of course, in hindsight, no fucker will admit it, but it was the backbone of the Leave campaign.

Nothing has been settled negotiations are ongoing, it was always going to be a political piece of theatre but ultimately all will be settled agreed and we will carry on without any major disruptions and without any massive effects on ours or Europe’s economy, you need to stop worrying fella.

Could not give a fuck what swung it just thankful it went the right way, fuck the EU it’ll all turn to shit and we will be glad we are out.

I think your overplaying the importance of a Visa

We are not part of the Shengen zone, as it stands anyone flying into the country has to complete advanced passenger information before they come here. Criminals are identified before they even get here and can be turned away if needs be. It’s hardly the ‘lack of control’ many are making out

Of the millions of EU residents that come here, a huge number do so to work, a huge number come here for short periods as tourists on holiday

According to most Brexiteers that I have listened too we won’t turn any of the tourists away and we would also let them come here if they had a job to come too

The vast majority already fit into these two buckets so I’m non the wiser as to what the big benefit is going to be?

The benefit is we get to chose how we control immigration not some unelected body of half wits in Brussels.
