  • Just to update, just got out of theatre in Wythenshawe following insertion of two stents. Thanks all for the good wishes.

  • Never had flu because it's a made up affliction.   You shower of queers.

  • Had the jab a few years ago when work were sending folk for it free of charge. Maybe a coincidence but I seemed to pick up more colds that winter than I've ever done in my life. Never bothered with it

I had flu for the first time ever last year, that was grim

I'll be having a flu jab this year, as I don't fancy being that ill again

just had it done £5 in Asda .So far my arm is attached and i am still breathing ,just about to crack a bottle of bishops finger so normal service is resumed

Only ever had one flu jab in my life. Biology lecturer at uni said anyone doing a biology degree was expected to take part in the trial for the latest vaccine. You got high dose, low dose, or placebo without knowing which. I have never, ever been so ill in my life. Put me off having one again. I was like Renton in Trainspotting when he went cold turkey

I know I should have one as I'm 53 and this Aussie strain is a really bad one but the memories really put me off

I've had them for the last 2 years due to taking Methatrexate (Arthritis).

No effect at all.

In fact you've reminded me to get this year's done.

Gracias

Prob with the flu jab is that it just protects against predicted strains

So if this Aussie one wasn't predicted when they were manufacturing, it's not going to protect against it

Contrary to most medical things over here, flu jabs are usually free (provided by the company you work for).

I guess I'll get one this year, these flu strains are getting far stronger each year.

Strine strain

probably whiny

You can't get flu from the flu jab as it doesn't contain a live virus. If you got ill following a flu jab in the past then it's a coincidence and you would have got ill anyway.

You might get a sore arm but that's about it. I had mine last week. And don't forget - by having it, you're not only protecting yourself - you're protecting those around you who are unable to get the shot because of ill health or disease and are contributing to herd immunity. Get it done!

Deffo.

I can't afford to be ill.

Only ever had proper flu once when I was about 16. I was shivering in bed watching cliffhanger and my dad burst in my room and accused me of being on drugs :D

Working outside shifts a lot of stuff for me, very rarely even catch a cold. (Touch wood) ...no recycled air and all that.

Is it a walk in centre jobby Kent??

To be fair we get it because we're dealing with people who are likely carriers - it's only really people who are high risk who will get it for nowt on the NHS - if you've got a respiratory illness for example. I'm pretty sure Boots will be doing them though. That's where we got the Men B vaccine for our little lad.

I get it free at work

Get a dead arm for a day and that's about it gonch

I'm sure I recently had a letter from our GP's surgery offering them for free

Is that a taxable benefit?

Had one last year felt terrible. Had this years last Saturday feeling fine.

You would need to be in a risk group to get it free

Asthma?

If not, the gp doesn't get paid so they wouldn't be pushing it on you

No

It might have been for the Mrs, can only assume it's because she's on maternity leave maybe. Had the baby 8 months back though so hardly 'at risk'

Just checked with my medical advisor and as you say having a baby isn't a risk group

Asthma, liver issues, some carers - but not caring for a baby

So, can't help you :)

Stunned. No cunt has blamed me.

Bolty should be paying for us all to have this jab. It's his fault this Australian strain is over here now

Normal service is resumed.  :D

Might have been the missus. She has been back recently to see a family member who has since passed away.

I'll tell her toneet that there's some angry folk in Bolton looking for her.

Like polio.

never had a flu jab, but if they offer you an anthrax jab, run a fucking mile. the worst pain i've ever felt

Never had one, probably never will, it made my brother really ill a few years back and that has put me off
