I'm putting it in here as I dont give 2 shits about the music but do give a shit about Kenny Boy hiring them our stadium.

Well done, rather than be empty in July the fuckers only gone and filled it.

No sexual objectification now, gentlemen.

Legs apart, gyratory pelvic thrusts are purely for artistic content and the costumes merely to facilitate freedom of movement.

be interesting to know the deal as it could be very good for us, or it could just be ok

either way, i'll trust KA has got the best deal he could

Have we soid em the stadium and its their gig, or are going the whole hog and paying LM a fee and then its ours to market and produce

im thinking we've gone the former safer route which will mean less profit/loss

obvs, we should have made em do it for nowt for the love of bwfc

Its part of a UK stadium tour. Ken (or someone in our promotions team) will have done the deal with the tour promoter.

In the past we have missed out as a venue with Huddersfield being chosen. This time Huddersfield is one of the venue's... guessing they've opted for us in the North West (not sure who else would have been in the running.... LCCC and Etihad possibly too big or too expensive - or not offering a big fat brown envelope in return).

does that mean the promoter pays us for rental?

Would not suprise me if KA done a cheap deal just so that the stadium gets back on the gig tour route map the marketing department at the club should hang their heads in shame at not getting at least one major gig per year especially after the likes of oasis used it in the past.

Did Elton John play at Leighs ground the other year?

Tbf, who'd want to play in a shithole like horwich?

If guess at too expensive, they'd have no problem selling out either of them places

No matter if we make a load of money or not, as Mounts points out, it puts us back on the map as a place that can hold a gig, and that's certainly a positive

Would imagine so - would be good if the club can supply pop and crisps to all the adolescents - should be a money spinner

well KA and LA were looking for ideas on how to fill the ground

Maybe they could play in midfield as part of a 4-4-2?

We were in the rotation getting Oasis, Coldplay & Pink.

Then Gartside turned down Bon Jovi, as he'd never heard of them and we were off the list as a serious venue.

Ticketmaster for tickets

yes but SMIFFS had to nosh him

I hope Ken has more dignity to be honest.

that ship has long since sailed

It's all about sales capacity, and the venue deal - how many seats does a space hold, and the % you can sell them at.

An act like Little Mix, where the fanbase have to be taken by parents in the main and and have a very, very young audience (ie pre and just reached teens) also does matinees and likes venues that reach beyond just the city-based venues to maximise this fanbase. Look at the dates - Swansea, Derby, Huddersfield, Bolton, Maidstone, Lincoln, Inverness...all provincial towns and cities. That's not unplanned.

Acts like Oasis, Bon Jovi and Elton John are considered Heritage acts ie past their peak but still have a large fanbase that will turn out to hear the hits, despite their latest album being gash and them being well past their best. It means they can still sell out larger outdoor venues with certain regional gigs. Weller does it a lot now, turning up in sports centres in places, well like, Crawley.

With Coldplay - well, it was the first arena headliner tour and probably couldn't fill MEN at the time, they played Crystal Palace sports arena on that tour and two smaller parks - its was to test out how they could work as a proper stadium band.

So, we're not going to be taking over MEN anytime soon, and it's dependant on certain acts deciding to do a tour rather than the stadium turning down bands left, right and centre.

saw Coldplay at the MEN in 2002 so they'd already done all that by then

dunno if they sold out, but can't have been far off, they were pretty big pretty quick
