We're not relegated if we don't win. We won't have lost all hope if we don't win. So it's not "must win ".   Winning would be a huge boost to us, especially with the 3 tough games coming after, bu

Shame the other one was looking at the half way line

  • I think we are better than 3 others. That will do me and most of us come the end of the season.

Can't understand the stick Robinsons getting, yes he makes mistakes but what player doesn't. He's a young lad learning the game.

Did Coyle leave his table tennis set for Perky ?

Burke’s the better defender IMO, Beevers has looked poor for 80% of the season and he is the worst player in our team on the ball.

Robinson has improved a lot over the last 10 games for me but had a shocker on Saturday, you can tell if he has a poor first 10/15 minutes that his confidence is shot and that’s his game done, it doesn’t help having Beevers next to him because he panics as soon as he has the ball which usually puts Robinson in tough positions. Burke next to him would have at least given him the option to play the ball inside without worrying it will be lost straight away (there was often no option ahead of him as Buckley just roamed whenever he wanted).

We massively missed Little on the right, Darby has no interest at all in going past the half way line which meant Ameobi had to take on 2 or 3 players on his own. Little would have been available on the overlap and would have taken defenders away to free up Ameobi.

Burton soon figured out that if you win the 2nd ball off Madine, and you crowd Ameobi out of the game then we’re basically out of ideas - anyone thinking Madine should be replaced by ALF or Armstrong up top though needs to have a word with themselves. We only have 2 or 3 players in the team that are genuinely comfortable on the ball, until that changes then most of our play will go long, if ALF was up top it would just mean a long ball to him which is pointless. Until then we will have to persevere with long balls, winning knockdowns, set pieces and hoping Sammy can do something special. It’s worked for most of the last 10-15 games and people seem to be forgetting the carnage that came before it.

I am not having it that Burke is a better defender hes had less game time and has made more errors that have lead to goals than Beevers and the problem with regard Beevers on the ball is that no one is good enough in midfield to just drop off and pick up a 2 yard pass from Beevers and go from there.

He is not one of our youth set up. He is learning his trade but not sure we can afford that. I actually agree with our comments that being alongside Beevers must be tough as he is really struggling.

I would go Burke and Taylor.

Completely agree. Why are we trying to benefit his parent club Everton by developing him.

We are fighting for our lives this season, and need as much experience as possible, especially as a player in our back line.

If he was brilliant despite his age, then great, but he’s not, and makes so many costly errors.

I'd say that Beevers is the better defender, a good, solid centre half. The problems come when he's expected to cover the full back in a 3 or when he's expected to distribute the ball....which shouldn't be his job.

Full backs -  Darby & Taylor are better defenders, Little & Robinson are better going forward, so take your choice. For me, full backs are first & foremost defenders ( like Beevers ) & anything going forward is a bonus, so I'd pick Darby & Taylor which would allow Ameobi & Armstrong/Buckley to concentrate on attacking & not having to spend most of their time bailing out defensively weak full backs.

Your last paragraph is absolutely spot on. Our team is screaming out for a creative midfield player who can take the ball off our defenders , keep possession & spray passes around, but we haven't got that player & cannot afford to buy one, which means we have no choice but to play the way we do. ......unless anyone wants to return to the carnage at the start of the season.

normally i agree with owt you post and im not far off on this one

i just think burton was never going to be a backs to the wall job and we couldve got away with burke

id also go with little over darby

and robinson or taylor?  much as i like taylor, robinson hasnt really cost us despite his limitations and he has been part of a much improved team

id say its a toss up

Are you suggesting Little was dropped as a tactical switch rather than through injury ?

Surely not.

Surely not.

Can Parky change tactics?

PP has played more different formations and set ups than any other manager I can remember. Every bad run we've had to date he has turned around, usually with a change in formation so I don't see the no plan B criticism of him at all.

No matter what formation, the tactics remain unchanged change.

No matter who he plays it's still launch it long to washing machine then hope.

Me

No

Just saying that unlike vava I'd pick little, as unlike him, I think our full backs have a massive part to play in attack

Yes just seen the context of your post now.

Definitely agree on the full backs.

Little offers way more than Darby and for all his faults Robinson is better tahn Taylor.

With Darby and Taylor we hardly get forward much so I would definately play Little and Robinson. Beevers is the one I would change.

There is a stat the full backs get more touches than any other position

Not sure it holds up with our lot

It does, for the most part.
Roy - we are all pissed off but can you just answer one question for me.

Of your 320 posts, have any of them ever been positive?

Wow

Have a look at our league position

Have a look at our financial position

Have a look at our attendances

I don't see too many positives

If we go down what positives do you see

Quite obvious what the positives are.

If you are correct and we get relegated, we will all get the benefit of your doom mongering on a more frequent basis for a sustained period.

What's not to like? Huzzah!

Come on then let's have your solution to get us out of the bottom 3

Turn the clocks back 1 game

Win games

I think folk are right to vent as its pretty shite at the moment.

Personally I'm not bothering as I just can't see anything changing in the near future and just hope like the rest of us there are 3 worse teams.

Fwiw I think there will be come May but we really need some slumps round us as this team can't go on a winning run

It wasn't shite until the last game, we need to remember that this season is all about staying up.

There was a massive wave of optimism that's been wiped out by one game.

One game more could reverse the balance, that's football.

I was merely agreeing with darreners post

So why I should get stick from Bolty 58 I don't know
