Fact of the matter is, performance wise & results wise over the course of pretty much a full season we have got exactly the same from 5 months with Madine and 5 months without him. That’s not real

We were under an embargo for 4 windows, we didn’t know what the EFL were going to allow us to do from 1 day to the next. If we found a player willing to come to us we had to sign them and hope they would be an upgrade on what we had. We didn’t have a recruitment policy which I m sure all others had, it’s remarkable that we are the only club ever to get promoted whilst in an embargo and hopefully survive in the championship under restrictions.

For comparison See Portsmouth Coventry Luton etc...

So right, but after where we were 6 games ago we should stay up.

How did Vela do? Shitfan here

Mid table on form because of Madines contribution yes. Pity the season started in August and he did fuck all from then until October

Yet from then we’ve insisted on playing the same way as without the talisman many think he was.

You seem to have this obsession on us having this fantastic midfielder who can break through the lines weaving his magic and tearing teams apart. Not many have that particularly at this level but there are teams who have a solid foundation who keep the ball, want to keep the ball and have midfielders who can create space and pick a 10 yard pass. They’re all sitting pretty around mid table without spending millions to get There!!! And if non of our midfielders can’t do that very simple role get rid of the job lot. Cos I’m telling you now there will be midfielders at clubs in and around us who aren’t playing or players in lower leagues who can

Expect and accept the shit you get and it’ll never change. Well I’ve accepted the shit we’ve got so far and it hasn’t got us very far in the grand scheme of things

What other teams have is pace. Players who can get you up the pitch. We have no pace and it makes it difficult playing in the way you say. I mean if Madine went in the summer and we had these players I might blame Parky. But he recruited to play off Madine, who even in the early part of our season looked our best attacking player by a mile. He bought a solid physical midfield that lacked quality because that’s what he thought we’d be doing. He bought wide men who cut inside to support Madine.

That’s why what we are left with isn’t really balanced to play in the way you’re asking it to. Henry, Pratley and Vela aren’t footballers. Buckley and Noone aren’t outlets really.

a manager cannot rely on one player.

shit tactics from a clueless manager

Ran around didn’t touch ball as per normal.

Agree with all of that but given how tight funds are, Parky couldn't afford to make a wrong signing. We had to have either a ready replacement for Madine in case of injury, or the players elsewhere to change the system.

Before the £4500 ceiling was introduced we signed Ameobi, Buckley and Noone - 3 wingers- on more wages than that. Stephen Darby (no idea what he's on) was straight from the Jamie Proctor 'wtf was he thinking?' transfer queries.

Ken rightly questioned the signing of players that weren't featuring in the starting line up.

Parkys done a remarkable job getting us to where he has but if we're short of an outlet, pace or creativity in the side then that's also down to him

Henry, Pratley and Vela aren’t footballers. Buckley and Noone aren’t outlets really.

Henry - played championship and premier league football for the majority of his career

Pratley - was a key figure and leading goal scorer for Swansea when they were playing great football in the championship

Buckley - was one of the better midfielders for Brighton in the championship and got a move to the PL

Noone - spent the last few years in the championship and has looked one of our best threats when he’s played

So to say these lot aren’t footballers and simply cannot play at this level without having the one and only plan of running off a big shit lump up top is utter drivel

Don’t particularly want to think about this scenario but if Barnsley only draw 1 or 2 of their games and lose the other, a draw against Forest will be enough for us even if we lose on Saturday but then PNE beat Burton

Don’t expect a favour off them nob end bastards, despite them having an open top bus parade for their top 10 finish.

David Batty played for England. It doesn’t mean he was ever any good at opening teams up. We’ve got a midfield of a certain type. We’ve got wingers of a certain type. None are quick. None go past players bar Ameobi. The midfield are break up play types not get you playing types.

It’s not exactly rocket science. On a limited budget we built a team in a certain way. Without the ability to play off a target the players we’ve got struggle.

We’ve got Morais

He was top of the league 1 assist table last season and he only signed for us in January, he’s got the best delivery in our squad for me but I don’t know why he hasn’t seen more action

Robinson & Little also offer us more going forward than the alternatives

Clough was the best player we had for the first half of last season, played through the centre he will get goals, thus the relatively big money move to Forest, he’s hardly got a game since he re joined and when he has he’s been pushed out wide

Parky has options to try something a little bit different but they have seemed to get overlooked more often than not

Morais got his assists from set pieces and crosses. And last season with him in the team we couldn’t score if Madine wasn’t there:

Clough played on the left all last season too. He probably also found his level if we are being brutally honest.

Assists from set pieces and crosses?? Isn’t that ideally what we are looking for from a winger

I like how you’ve pinned Morais having a fantastic half a season on Madine, that’s your best one yet. Madine only scored 9 all season, Morais got a lot more assists than that in 4 months

If the Best players from Millwall and Sheff Utd have been able to step up then I’d like to think our best players from last season could do the same. Yet Clough and Morais have barely had a run out

Edit - just had a look, Clough got 9 goals in half a season, apparently from wide left, the same as Madine in a full season from centre forward. Surely worth more of a run out given we have been so devoid of attacking ideas

I’m not saying that. Morais can sling great crosses in but needs someone in there to head them in. At the least someone physically occupying defenders.

Clough got 9, Vela got 10 etc...shows there is a difference in level. Our only player to kick on and step up goals wise has been Madine.

ALF will score goals the issue is he doesn’t fit into any sensible team we pick and therefore it means we are reliant on something falling to him like against Villa rather than him really fitting in the team. In January we desperately needed a proper partner for him. I think had we got one we’d be safe by now.

Ok so we’ve built the team a certain way. Around 1 man. You lose that man yet these players are so entrenched in this one way of playing that there is no other option, they cannot be changed, they cannot be coached to play a different style, they simply cannot comprehend passing the ball, because all of the other clubs they have collectively played for at every level have played exactly the same way we do?

I honestly don’t know what to say anymore

If you agree that Morais can sling great crosses in then surely you think he should have played more this season?

For me, we’ve not seen enough of Clough, certainly not enough to say he cant crack it at this level, when he broke on the scene at this level and played through the middle he scored plenty (playing alongside ALF)

And he admits they’re from set-pieces

Therefore the “Madine effect” is actually even less there, as we’d naturally have more big men forward for them than in open play

And im sure we hardly got a point with clough and le fondre together

Madine wasn't a world beater

We were doing quite well before he left

Madine wanted to leave

Anderson had no real choice than to sell

We miss him

Those denying his departure made us worse are the same ones who reckoned he was shit

So no surprise they continue being wrong

What a load of shit

Doing quite well before he left? We were in relegation doing wank

Like we were when Megson left

You’re good at rewriting history

Maintaining our form at the time we would've pissed it

Yeah I reckon we’d be in the play offs now :D

Fuck my life.

Bi polar ways at its finest.

Maintaining our form at the time we would've pissed it

Ahhh, doing that conveniently forgetting the first 12 or whatever games again aren’t we

FWIW I reckon we’re more likely to have been better off with Madine

However, that’s simply nowhere near our only issue

And there’s no guarantee we’d have been out of the relegation scrap; just a minor increase in the chance of it

He’s ripping up trees mind, isn’t he
