If someone had offered me Bolton to be in this position at the start of the season I’d of snatched their hands off, given Wigan’s steam rolling of the 1st Div then relegation. Get a result v Burton and all’s well again, I wasn’t expecting much today so we soldier on.

At the start of the season I quoted ‘if we stay up it’s as good as promotion’, it would be quite a achievement going off Wigan’s last three seasons. I’m only worried about the performances at the moment.

Shit as that was, if we do go down it’s not because of a battering off the best team in the league.

 

First half we competed early on, if I’d have conceded that 2nd in Sunday league I’d have been embarrassed though.

At the end of the day you wouldn’t swap any of our players for theirs so while I understand the manner of the defeat hurts the overreaction on here is a bit much.

For me, even as a Taylor fan, our best left side is robinson with morais in front of him

Morris put in 2 very good and 1 decent ball in the first half that with more confidence from our attackers / a bit of luck we score from

The problem isn’t that we can still stay up. It’s that the team has run out of legs, energy and steam at exactly the wrong time. We are going down with a whimper. It’s a shame as we’d fought our way to a decent position. I guess the truth is that after a bad start we had, when it was as bad as that any further dip in form costs of you. We had no real cushion to fall back on.

 

Lack of fight today was worrying. We had ten bright minutes at the start but after that played like a team who knew they were going down. Still think trying to press a team like Wolves was a tactical mess from Parkinson. What did he think would happen as we left holes in behind?

 

I’ve resigned myself to it now. There just isn’t the spirit and gumption in this lot to pull themselves over the line. They’ve had enough chances to be virtually safe and can never manage to get over the line. Brum home, Barnsley away.....

Birmingham and Reading lose next week and we win/draw and on paper given the last game fixtures we'd be fave to overtake them, but given our home form and lack goals that's not a given.

 

That's a litle positive if Barnsley results go against us too
