Fact of the matter is, performance wise & results wise over the course of pretty much a full season we have got exactly the same from 5 months with Madine and 5 months without him. That’s not real

He’s right it wasn’t bad Brentford away was disappointing but we managed back to back wins over Xmas

Madine left after Ipswich and I think we was 2 points clear of relegation

FWIW I reckon we’re more likely to have been better off with Madine

However, that’s simply nowhere near our only issue

Carrie time

She’s as menkul as you

And im sure we hardly got a point with clough and le fondre together

Just had a look and he scored 6 goals in 9 starts before he got kicked out of the game against Reading

We picked up 8 points in those games, scoring 12 and conceding 17

Last season he scored 9 in half a season including 5 in October earning him league 1 player of the month

Overall he’s scored 21 goals in 58 starts for us, 1 in 3

Given his previous history with us and the fact that we have been struggling for goals i’d have liked to have seen more of him, perticularly playing more centrally than out wide. It’s not like we are full of great talent that’s been keeping him out

Look back at the goals and assists of clough and it's quite clear the talent is there

By far the most exciting prospect to come through the ranks in years

Though many folk seem to knock him because it didn't work out at Forest, or because the team didn't perform better because of him in what was one of worst periods in years

Cloughs first touch sets him apart from most players we have had these last few years

He's not quick and he's not strong

It's a shame because skill wise, he's really very good

Clough at his best would play. But the Clough we’ve got now is far from his best and a total passenger. And we’ve no time to help him find his confidence. However if we are playing the system we did yesterday he can’t do worse than Ameobi did there and Sammi can take Buckley’s place.

That’s what I’d go with at Burton, but Parky won’t and I fully understand why. Noone in for Buckley for me though as he looks more of a threat all round.

Luton began the league season moderately, winning, drawing and losing 2 each of their first 6 league matches.

In addition they lost at home in the first round of the league cup.

So while they've had a good season, and exciting, it has not been 'consistent'. A rotten argument.

Not a rotten argument at all. Everyone has known all season luton would go up, same as they knew wigan and Blackburn would too. Their cup defeat was against a team 2 divisions higher, equivalent of us playing man u. If the seasons were replayed Luton and wigan would still go up. Just my opinion but I don't think we would have done the same last season, we got away with it.

Assists from set pieces and crosses?? Isn’t that ideally what we are looking for from a winger

I like how you’ve pinned Morais having a fantastic half a season on Madine, that’s your best one yet. Madine only scored 9 all season, Morais got a lot more assists than that in 4 months

If the Best players from Millwall and Sheff Utd have been able to step up then I’d like to think our best players from last season could do the same. Yet Clough and Morais have barely had a run out

Edit - just had a look, Clough got 9 goals in half a season, apparently from wide left, the same as Madine in a full season from centre forward. Surely worth more of a run out given we have been so devoid of attacking ideas

Agree with all of that.

I’m not sure we have seen enough of him during this stint to make that call

Certainly of his more recent appearances it’s been coming on as a sub late on when our rythem has gone right out the window, we’ve generally started games well and it would be good to see him then

If we are talking about passengers then we have plenty of them already, we might as well swap one for Clough and give it a go from the start. In all honesty I think you could make a strong case for Clough in ahead of Derik plenty of times since January, now he is a passenger. No point having a three man centre midfield if one of them is Derik, might as well commit another forward. Especially relevant for the Birmingham and Millwall home games when I think we should have got something (on paper)

You read a few pages on this thread and a lot of people talk of a lack of passion, i don’t think we would get that from Clough. He came here as a Forest player to celebrate us winning promotion last year. He is also one of a few players we have who isn’t afraid of the football, he will come and show for it which gives the defenders / midfielders an option. He has the ability to run at the defence and can chip in with goals for good measure

I doubt we will see him start against Burton and I assume he can’t against Forest, a shame really

Gary Madine wanted to leave the Club. Wish people would shut the fuck up about him. Some times you just don't have the choice. One is when £6 million is in the bag.

It really is that simple boothy. Sick of reading the pricks name.

The problem with Clough is that parky didn't want him just like he didn't want alf walker and the Nigerian. He can't fit them into the team because he's limited tactically. Adam Armstrong gave a interview in the Lancashire telegraph saying he didn't want to re sign for us because parky was pushing him to do more defensive work and he wanted to play further forward. Parky will set up not to lose at Burton like he did at Barnsley I just hope he gets it right because it won't be pretty if we lose.

and this is my current problem with him. you can bring in whatever type of player you want. or dont want in this case. but you have to get the best out of what you have instead of trying to shoe horn the players in to the one and only way you want to play.

ultimately, if you ask the players to do a job they arent happy with / not used to then you havent got a hope in hell of getting the best out of them. ability wise & performance wise.

Armstrong would have scored goals, he has proven it wherever else he has been. being played up top. it really isnt that difficult to understand.

Walker, from all reports was decent on arrival. bit of pace, plays on the shoulder. we havent given him a sniff, Clough, different kind of player but you have to find a way of getting the ball to him to make a difference. yet he's slung out on the left scurrying around for scruffy 2nd & 3rd balls.

i havent got a clue what difference CYL wouldve made if we had got him as the ball wouldve been flying all over the gaff around him

its absolutely no coincidence that these players dont score goals when theyre with us. but the blame is laid at their door rather than looking at why?

6 in 34 at Barnsley in this league. He's scored goals for two clubs at league one level. Lets get this straight.

As for Clough and Walker, what were they doing at Notts Forest another club in and around our level in this league?

wouldve been 6 more than we fucking have now which couldve equated to more points we have now. all coulda woulda shoulda. just like saying your fella Madine couldve got 20 goals if he had stayed with us!

fact of the matter is, give any striker playing at this level a chance and more often than not they will take it! yet we create five fifths of fuck all yet everyone moans the attacking players we have do nothing!

3 games in the last 10 or so where we have actually played a degree of football. sheff weds, Villa, Barnsley (2nd half) we got 5 points out of those. the other games we have played in the way that you claim is the only way we can and what did we get?? fucking nothing!!

i honestly dont understand what you dont understand

You’re wasting your time BC.

It has to be one way or another on here. If you say we’d still be in the shit with Madine here that means your saying your glad he left and he’s a shit cunt.

The fact is we had no choice to sell him. We were relegation fodder before he left, we still are now.

The players recruited were to play a different style, Parky has chosen not to adopt that style.

If players are under contract the club has the choice. As the old song goes "Steve Gerrard Gerrard, he kisses the badge on his chest, and puts in a transfer request" The Scousers wouldnt let him move  though even though they would have made a lot more money than Ken got.

But my point is we don't have the players to play a different type of football. The balance is all wrong for that, as has been all to painfully obvious this season. You seem to be wanting to entirely blame the manager as though it is a computer game and he's deliberately pressing long ball and ultra defensive every game. He's tried just about every system.

I wouldn't say Parky is blameless, but I'd argue, strongly that he's not got the players to support an effective passing game. He's got a limited team. And adding in Clough and Walker who were unwanted by Forest and not exactly playing well or scoring goals, doesn't suddenly change the fact that the midfield is old, slow and designed to win tackles, the wide players designed to cut inside and support a central striker.

I happy to concede a shades of grey - Parky should have played Clough more as he was our best bet - if we could get him going. I totally think he's missed a trick there. I understand why he hasn't. But there you go. However, the players we've got in this squad are suited in the main to attritional football and no magic manager changes that. Like I say a stronger squad 2 years ago with a manager who wanted to play attacking passing football, went down without trace...nobody seems to answer why that side with the likes of Wellington Silva, Clough. Madine, Ream, Holding etc weren't able to stay up if its just a case of a manager wanting to play better football?

which is what im on about

but the reason is, because the players cant play a different way apparently rather than Parkinson being unable / unwilling to adopt a different style.

honestly, my head hurts

Liverpool aren't desperate for cash though are they....but don't let that stop ya.

We signed clough, Walker, ameobi, Alf and karacan this season. Those player aren’t capable of playing the system Parkinson practises 5 days a week in training.

It’s up to the manager to find a system that works better than the one we’ve been using.

Again every Monday it’s the same shite from you. Big massive posts full of shite, arguing for arguing sake.

I still don’t know what point it is your trying to make in amongst the 16 page long replies from puddled mind.

Our system was built around Madine. He got sold. It was up to the manager to find a different system to suit the players he then had. Recruiting took place to aid him doing so.

He chose not to do it.

It really is so simple.

I never thought I’d pack this place in but fuck me your sending me under.

And I'm calling bollocks on that. You seem ingrained in your view so I'll leave it there. But we just have differing opinions - it happens.

he doesnt practice that system and style Gonzo. its all completely different.

the players then take it upon themselves every Saturday to revert to it though...  :D

You are lucky to have him as manager, the sooner you acknowledge what you are and where you are at, you will become more realistic in expectations.

The players you have are such low level, they cant play any other way, not sure what you expect.

You are no longer a prem club, thats all in the past.

Parky is the best you can get.
