Non Alcoholic Lager

Tried a few recently.

Have to say, there’s some really good quality ones about. To my utter disbelief the Budweiser Probibition is excellent (caveat - needs to be ice cold).

The San Miguel, Brew dog and Heineken are also very good. Becks blue is shite.

And you can drive home. Could get used to it.

What the fuck has happened to this place

  • But made from what? If you make it from proper lager or bitter all you're doing is sweetening and halving the alcohol content per pint. Drink enough and you'll still be over the limit.

Going back to the original topic, I had a bitter shandy t'other day made with Asda's own utter catpiss bitter (90p for four tins, 2%) - made 50/50 with both the catpiss and the lemonade being ice cold

I've been supping becks blue. Quite enjoyed it. Not tried any others to be fair.

In this weather apart from plenty of water, and elderflower cordial is very refreshing and a glass of ice cold milk is good for electrolytes.

Tried them all - all varying degrees of chemical cold tea dog piss, rather not bother...

The Spanish Spars do an own brand 'sin alcohol' in blue tins that, unlike the others, actually does taste like lager - however the lager is Haagen Lager (39p from all good nineties corner shops) topped off with a good glug of sparkling water.

Can't imagine much worse tbh

Can't see the point.

Bit like wanking for 5 minutes then stopping right on the vinegar.

I've not had a drop for 5 week

Had the heineken blue a few times

Tastes exactly the same

I'm still getting the taste I enjoy but no longer feeling like a cunt for 3 days after

Can't see the point.

Same

There much nicer tasting and refreshing non-alcoholic drinks than lager.

Brew dog nanny state is great

Becks blue is a good main stream option

The absolute key is a cool beer.

Warm and they are shite.

You’ll never have a session on em though. 3 and you’re done

What the fuck has happened to this place

It came out of necessity

If it helps, I drank almost a full bottle of Bulliet bourbon last weekend and about a marine league of lager, to the point where my bottom declared war.

Would much rather have a nice cold glass of water than that shitty non alcoholic lager, just utterly pointless.

Reminds me of the Euro tours and folk buying ale in the ground thinking it was kosher.

...and when you factor in the fact that alcohol is a carcinogen, it does seem to make a lot of sense if they can get one to taste right.

We sell Warsteiner non alcohol beer, very popular with those that drive to the match

Absolutely pointless

Better with vimto

Agreed.  Although a properly made shandy isn't a bad substitute.

I've never drank, but non alcoholic lager, just sounds wrong, never fancied it.

There was a bloke at cricket yesterday who spent all afternoon drinking larger-tops. A full pint of premium lager and a dash of lemonade. He convinced himself that he was drinking shandy so reckoned he could have four or five pints and be ok to drive.

Aye. Never really bothered before and tended to be of a similar opinion to others.

However whilst I can't sup ale; squash does have its limitations after a while, a lot of sugar or chemicals.

Beer does contain some good stuff extracted from barley etc, so if I can get a good one its nice to have something cold after a day sweating my balls off in the current heat.

Aye but who's having a session on non-alcoholic ale?

Surely you can ask the bartender/person/whatever to add less ale than half and have weak lager?

Or just don't drive if you are drinking.

I had a few weeks on that brew dog nanny state around the birth of the second in October. It's alright, you don't need or want two bottles.

I've not had one since. If I'm driving I'll have a sparkling water and a bottle of red downed in 20 mins when I get home.

just drink Carling, it's as weak as piss

just drink Carling, it's as weak as piss

Especially in those pint cans
