Bwfc Vs Bristol City

So, what's the starting XI after today's win?

Any of the subs do enough to make a start next Saturday?

Ameobi injured?

As has been said, first half was utter drudgery, would have taken a draw after 20 mins and still woul have at half time.   Somehow found ourselves in dreamland at 2-0 but never secure, both goals co

Bristol City haven't won in 11 away games and have sold some of their best players.Having a cheap team is no excuse for playing with no attacking intent.

This season is only 2 games old.

Brizzle had played a grand total of 0 away games before today.

Last seasons games mean Jack shit.

Today was a great point against a slick attacking Bristol team, we got lucky. On another day it could of been 3-0 to them. First half from us was terrible. We need more attacking intent. Magennis won loads of headers but no one to feed off them, he also did an amazing job defending set pieces. Mom for me. Taylor and Buckley replacement and decent attacking mid/second striker where missing today. Too defensive for playing at home.

Shit ref, weimann best player on pitch.

We played Le Fondre, Wildschut, Magennis, Noone and Buckley.

Not all at the same time. Magennis the only one of those five who completed the 90 mins.

We played two holding midfielders. At home. Again. When neither of them are capable of a decent forward pass it's negative.

Clear as day at end of last season that our defence chronically lacked pace, hence Parky feeling he needed to give them double protection even at home. Absolute priority should have been to get in at least one CB and a left back with pace, so he could be confident enough to have just one in front of them and somebody who could pick a forward pass. Not easy I know, with our budget but had to be done. Beevers and Wheater, as a pair, are nowhere near what's required against the majority of teams at this level. Taylor only adds to the problem, slow as a boat.

The Championship is rapidly evolving in terms of the approach of most teams. Our approach is nowhere near keeping pace, it is outdated to the point of being pre-historic

So being 2-0 up was a fluke?

Eh?

Why do you bother replying to these idiots mate?

Is it only us who have so many plantpots?

FFS, any one of us would have taken 4 points from the first two games if offered before the season started. Some of these moaners probably aren't capable of remembering the start of last season.

Dodgy reffing decisions to both sides which hopefully evened out. Convinced their first was offside.

Happy enough and it is obviously early days for all teams so any fucker getting worked up about a particular players form or lack of needs to start partaking in sexual activity with a member of the opposite sex or something to cheer the fuck up.

What a difference a week makes eh.

Brizzle deserved a point at least.

2-0 and Ameobi in side we win that one.

Dying to see that Ostumer chap get a kick, even for the novelty.

I’m happy enough with the points haul so far against 2 sides who will finish in the top 10. Bristol City are a decent team who made us look like the away team. If we had gone with a more attacking line up, they’d have picked us off.

Murphy I’m sure is still getting up to speed and will show more. The cup game on Tuesday should allow us to give game time to ALF, Wildschut and Oztumer so can see the personnel altering slightly over the coming few league games.

We had 4 new signings starting including both central midfielders, it’s not going to click straight away. Yes it was dis-jointed but it was still enough to get a point nearer to safety

Our defensive line was at 6’s and 7’s a lot yesterday. Heir first may have been offside but it was only just if so and we skated with that scenario a lot. Wheater let him go for that goal and at times yesterday was 5 yards behind the others.

I like the big lad. But him and Beevers together all season and we will be in trouble IMO.

I also think Alnwick should do better with their 2nd but I am knitpicking

On the bright side, Reading away, Brum and Sheff U at home all offer chances for points and hopefully we can gel and settle before we play anymore of the real strong teams.

A good little run may also take the pressure off so they can play a bit, as we never had that luxury last season

I’m 99% sure that 2nd goal took a little deflection to take it away from Alnwick. It was more down to not being given a foul on Wheater and re-organising from Noones substitution.

Totally agree on the reorganisation bit; Parky telling O’Neill where to go AFTER their goal was farcical

However, I just felt it was a weak hand from Alnwick too; if a deflection explains that then fair enough

Their first was “at least” 2 yards off

Shit straight in line with it in WSU

Linesman was looking at Ref was his hand twitching ready to single it. Another shocking decision from Ref

In fairness, poor opener with a moderate following and holiday season. Didn't expect much more.

Not really sure what we can expect fro home crowds this season, this seems to be our level.

price and Bristol’s 750 didn’t help suppose, catch you in east lower against Sheffield????

just watched goals again tbf the 2nd was taken away from Alnwick had no chance

That linesman didn’t give anything without looking at the ref

However, my point is that it wasn’t as far off as to be a deliberate defensive ploy; Wheater gave him way too much room and that’s my concern going forward

Wheater is just slow and will always be exposed against pace. And they had it across the park.

Ref; didn't even knows the laws. Deliberate handball, FFS.

That was up there with one of the worst decisions I’ve ever seen. Clearly reached out and grabbed the ball back in to him as we’re mounting a counter attack and doesn’t get booked. Even more bizarre given how many cards were dished out late on.

Alnwick is poor. Very poor in deed

First half they swung a free kick in he had no clue was running round in circles luckily it went narrowly wide. The second goal he ahould of had. Bristol taught us a footballing lesson yesterday we were fkin awful

And we still managed to draw - brill

It wasn't pretty. Hasn't made me rush back to the ticket office and pay another £44 for me and my lad. That was his first game since wembley and I don't think it reignited his passion again

Disappointing after being 2 up but no complaints with Bristol looking a decent side & possibly deserved to win. If we'd been 2 down & got the draw against them, we'd be dancing in the street.

I thought the problem was in midfield where we couldn't get a grip of their quick pass & move stuff.....did they have an extra man in midfield ?

The Pole, SJM & Noone played well ( i thought Vela did well after O'Neil came on & he got into the game more ) but with so many new players it's sure to take a while to gel & find our best team.....I'm still hoping that Oztumer will come in & be the midfield player who can hold & pass the ball, that we're screaming out for.

I think there’s a few changes that we’ll see before we get a settled team.

Oztumer in for Vela which will add creativity and goals, leaving Lowe and Murphy to play their own game without having to worry about going forward.

Wildschut will be in for Buckley once we get a decent left back in. I’m convinced that Buckley is currently in because he’s seen as better protection for Taylor than Wildschut would be.

Hobbs in for Beevers - although this might take an injury or suspension to Beevers before it happens because he’s pretty much an ever present in Parky’s teams.

I think the team would be far more balanced with those changes. We’d have a serious theat down both wings (when Ameobi’s back), a genuine attacking midfielder who can put his foot on the ball, create chances and score goals, a defensive mid in Lowe who can just concentrate on protecting the defence and then Murphy once he’s fit and settled hopefully acting as the link between defence and attack.

We’re still a work in progress which makes our early results even more impressive IMO.

Yeah I’m having all of that

Not been impressed with Vela for a while and Otzumer seems to be ready made for that role off SJM; my only slight concern is that is a big change in physicality. Hopefully the 2 behind make up for that and Oztumer probably won’t harry and bite so much but the creative benefits more than make up for it

Rumour is Otzumer's shirt doesn't have the BetFred sponsor in it

There were 2 little kids running along the front of the boxes at the hotel end during the second half yesterday. Alf Hartigan gave me a nudge and said “Otzumer’s warming up”.
