gonzo Posted January 8 Author Posted January 8 You can smash through calories walking on elevation on a fancy running machine too. I often do that if my dodgy ankles dont fancy it. Gets bit boring like but helps if there's a scantily clad intstagram type lass on the stepper in front. Quote

I've managed to shed nearly half a stone. Spending most of my time on a spin bike, which can be a bit brutal. I've also found a new love for twatting around with boxing gloves and a punch bag. A quick half hour on a punchbag with some drills (taken from TikTok) is a proper cardio workout Quote
Dr Faustus Posted January 17 Posted January 17 i sprained my knee ligaments (according Royal Bolton) 2 month ago- i've put 8lbs on; i know i can shift especially as i am moving more now- just a bastard when you've lost most of it once still not right, aches like hell but i can move it Quote

Planning on getting back on the heavy bag tomorrow after somehow losing my gloves midway through last year Quote
gonzo Posted January 18 Author Posted January 18 I'm the heaviest I've been in years. Eating shite, drinking every weekend to excess. Barely been to the gym since November. Amazing how you can fall off a cliff. Quote
Leyther_Matt Posted January 18 Posted January 18 8.6 pounds gone in just short of a fortnight. 1,500 calories a day and no booze. Same again this week then a day off for Huddersfield away. Tend to find having a calorie controlled fry up and roast on the Sunday gets me right back on track instead of hankering for a takeaway. A long way to go, but it’s a start. First goal is to lose the 20 pounds I’d put on since the start of the football season. Quote
Smiley Posted January 20 Posted January 20 (edited) Other options for training at home - get a rebounder / mini trampoline. Don’t buy cheap (I’ve done that already). On my 2nd one now, much more sturdy. Great for mimicking runs in the house whilst watching TV, footie, etc. Usually grab a couple of 2kg or 3kg hand weights to give me some extra resistance, which works my upper body a bit more. I fucked up my knee dicking about on a sledge in Lapland early December. Carried on running on it. Not got any better. Saw my physio 7 days ago who’s insisted I rest for minimum 2 weeks from running. I’ve carried on using my assault bike and spin bike + the rebounder. Still don’t think my knee is going to heal though, so might need to take a full week off, which would be a real pisser. On the diet side, had 2-3 weeks over Xmas and NY drinking and eating shite. But dropped straight back into fasting and keto first week of Jan. Also bought noodles, rice and pasta from Bulk. All carb and (virtually) calorie free. Made from glucomannan. Edited January 20 by Smiley Quote

Big E Posted February 18 Posted February 18 My chest is against me at the moment. Not been out for a week. Gonna have to try the gym later. Tokyo marathon 2nd March. Fly out next week. Getting nervous now. any old school clearing chest remedies. I’ve tried spunk, rubbing it with a balloon, rubbing it with a spunk covered balloon and it’s not shifting Quote
gonzo Posted February 18 Author Posted February 18 Good old fashioned eucalyptus. Or get some of those crazy smelling salts ....I've recommended on here before but if theres any supplement every human with even moderate exercise plans should be taking its creatine. 5-10mg per day. It improves everything. Proper stuff from my protein etc and not one loaded with caffine dressed as pre workout. Creatine over time massively improves stamina. Get on it. Quote

Smiley Posted March 11 Posted March 11 (edited) Signed up for a couple of runs this week. The Link which is a 20-miler around Bury - organised by The Sunnywood Project. And then the Llangollen Fell Race (think it’s 16 or 19 miles). Route for this looks superb (around Worlds End, etc). Been upping the mileage recently and also throwing in the odd hike and lots of 2-3 mile walks. Knee is still dicky, took a month off, not made too much difference. Took advantage of the great sunny weather with some 10/11 mile runs around Conwy Mountain, Wayoh, Macc Forest and then locally to me (United’s training ground). Not forgetting a great 10 miler up to the top of Fuerteventura (3rd time I ran that), Pico de la Zarza. Also a couple of great hikes around the Peaks of 10/13 miles. Diet has been proper hit and miss. Back eating chocolate and the odd bit of bread. Need to get back fasting and keto again, want a good 6-8 weeks on it before mid May. Edited March 11 by Smiley Quote
