That stance didn’t last long, he’s just signed for Celtic for 4 years hope we got a decent fee for him

We've nurtured him from the age of 7 - I'd argue he owes us quite a bit.

I hope he fails. Celtic are a bunch of wankers, always have been. Sorry Luca but you’ve just shit on the club who’s made you into potential a decent player. Go fuck yourself

So that's one kid signed for Celtic and one signed for Man City this week. The Academy must be doing some things right

A decent fee? 250K max I reckon.

Cheers for letting us develop your career from the age of seven, then going on strike about 5 games into your career before trying to get your contract annuled.

#nicebloke

Still be a good player though - if he gets played regularly.

Can see him getting crocked in the SPL tbh but nevertheless you cant blame him.

Fuck him

That’s where I’m at. If they’d of just bid properly then I’d have no issues with this. It’s left a bad taste in my mouth

Good luck to him

won’t let it bother my weekend though

Unbelievable! We have some special followers

Definitely time for a day or two off twitter.

"We've been lied to again!"

"If FV can't hold onto him what hope do we have"

"Hope he breaks his legs in old firm"

Meh.

All the hard David Lee has done for the academy & we have nothing to show for it. Really pisses me off

Celtic have agreed to pay more than they had to. Not too bad a result I suppose.

I have a suspicion this won’t be a lot

Fuck him... career waste land north of the border

Rumour (yes, I know)...but if he'd gone to an English club, we'd be entitled to 250-300k, elsewhere it's 100k.
Apparently Celtic have "been honourable" in paying the English rate.

He might as well have gone and played in Bolton Sunday League Div 1 with the standard of Scottish football.

Lets hope we added a sell on clause.

Good luck to him i say.

Can't blame the kid for moving to a massive club + getting guaranteed wages for 4 years.

Meh. Remember when Joe Riley was the next Cafu? Some tit on Facebook is talking about ‘mini Nedved’ being our last hope.

Fuck me, did I miss a hundred games?

Bye.

From the bits we have seen, he's got something about him mentally, he's got a decent left foot

But, he's small and could well be made of glass

It's a decent punt for Celtic and time will tell whether it was decent for us

I honestly don't see him playing 20 games for them next year

I didn’t know he was a scouser. That’s made this a bit easier.

Moving to Scotland rarely makes anyone a world beater. He’s fucked up.

Biggest disappointment in all of this for me is connell was one of the few players I looked forward to watching.

he was one of the few positives last season and genuinely got me off my seat and optimistic we might do something good.

he might not have had the skill of jay jay or the might of super kev but he had heart and desire to get on the ball. That coupled with excellent distribution and an eye to switch play was amazing considering who he was playing under.

the sight of him telling the whole team to rally on when we’d conceded was uplifting. And this was an 18 year old lad.

He could have been the poster boy for all our young fans. Which we do desperately lack.

For every good pass there was a bad one

And he's weak

But he's a kid

Like I say, no idea how good he is

As I posted in another thread the other day, the writing was on the wall when, even after breaking in to the first team, he was only given a third year scholarship rather than getting him on a pro deal. Yes it meant we could get rid without a financial burden if he turned out to struggle next season, but it also meant there was always the possibility of him going elsewhere for nowt.

Personally I don’t think Celtic is a great move for him football-wise as they rarely blood young kids unless they’re extra special like Tierney and tend to look to buy-in the finished article. Even if he is loaned out to another Scottish club as I expect will be the case, standard is at worst comparable to if he’d have stayed with us in League One.
