Mental Health/Depression

For those that questioned why I didn’t attend the game last Saturday, this was why. My daughter asked me to go to the Pride parade with her, have a few drinks, a meal, and generally have a catch up on her life and her website project. She doesn’t live with me so I don’t see her that often so face to face time is very valuable

I’ve highlighted one particular part of her social media post from today. That is a nod to WWays. She was stunned by the response from here. I thank all of you that contributed feedback once again for your support.......

As some of you may remember, a year ago I set up a website that allows people to submit and share their personal stories regarding mental health, encouraging people to use their voice and realise that they're not going through this alone.

The response I received was absolutely insane. That insane in fact, that I shut it down after a few months as I couldn't cope with managing the website alongside my own mental health.

But now I'm back 💥 I'm in a better place with my mental health, I'm currently in the process of purchasing my first home, and next week I start my dream job as a Teaching Assistant in a special educational needs school.

So I've decided to relaunch my project. A website where you can anonymously submit your mental health story, in the form of poetry, short stories, song lyrics, or simply anything that expresses you.

Read all 46 pages of this thread last night.  Rang doctors first thing this morning, and got GP appointment.  Now hooked up with referral to a couple of support services.  You don't know me, but

Well, about 10 days now since the fit.

Feeling better gradually, but not 100%. Far and away the worst one: wife informed me that my lad may have saved my life.

My head was back over the arm of the sofa, tongue slipped back and being vigorously bitten, with blood and saliva being spluttered out.

Tipped my head forward and it all drained!

Area of tongue still with no sensation, and at times possibly a bit slower speaking and moving.

Definitely more scary this time round.

Got me reading a bit more about epilepsy, and if anything, I'd ask everyone just to have a read on how to look after someone who is having a fit.

Lots of websites to look at.

glad you're feeling better pal, agree with your last point, I've done lots of reading up since my partner got it

luckily I've been present for all 3 of hers

shes a week since her last one, and still feeling very drowsy, she'll also been getting pins n needles in her hand

they've up her lamotrigine again

get yourself to the toughsheet this weekend, fresh will do you good

Tempted, but I had a BP check as part of review with GP. It's through the roof, maybe as a resultif the seizure or maybe part cause, and they've told me to take things easy and avoid doing strenuous exercise or activity that will work against it.

Not so sure that a Derby against Wigan is conducive to a reduced BP and pulse rate! 😁

Hope your missus carries on mending.

If she ever wants a chat about them with a fellow sufferer, I'll willingly pop round.

They'll be using chatgpt to check if you've plagiarised by chatgpt.

If you ask chatgpt to write your essay as if it's not from chatgpt you'll avoid chatgpt catching your plagiarism.

Won’t the college folk then use chatgpt to search for chatgpt work which doesn’t look like chatgpt work?

You need to do it gradually pal.

Backs of the eyes "bouncing around"?

Wobbly head, miss-firing nerves, achy shoulders, appetite shifts?

Welcome to mornings.

Aye. Know exactly what you mean. I've gone cold turkey off 3 different types over the last 15 years or so, because I'm a fucking idiot. Sertraline, Fluoxitine, and another I can't remember the name of. Can't recall my exact thought process each time, but it was probably "I've been reet for months now, I don't need these any more". Was fucking horrendous every single time, and always left me in a worse state. Been on Mirtazapine for about 4 years now, and have no intention of coming off them unless the doc advises me to.

I get that to an extent being on 'em!

A lot worse being off!

Think being on epilepsy stuff too doesn't necessarily help, but hey ho such is life.

One morning your up with the seagulls ready to take on the world, the next you can barely peel yourself out of bed.

Weird innit?

Think as a society we've all just got too much going on.

Ironically going back to Nokia 6210s would sort a lot of it out

True isnt it. Dont think human consciousness was designed to take in so much information and deal with so much.

We have the same amount of serotonin and dopamine in our systems as cave men did.

(That fact is pure conjecture but think we have :) )

I think you're right.

If I walk the dogs in the morning, I always feel better afterwards. Can be a pain getting 3 sorted when you're wanting to get cracking, but it helps.

Fuck being a cave man though, that looks like a proper shitty short life.

Apart from talentless fuckwits who make a living from being 'influencers', has social media actually improved anyone's life?

Same.

Hard work getting friends and family to book with me, but I've a great loyal customer base on social media and I've picked up a small number of clients off here too.

Obviously I'd love more of you cunts to at least give me the opportunity to quote for your eleventy six holidays a year, but life's a shithouse, son.

We used Meta for paid for media so it's how the model works. I do miss the old days though - radio, print, TV, loads of Out of Home, easier to do and costs more and less management; but there you go.

Actually I need to chat, looking at holidays next year but not being part of the millionaires club I'm working to a tight budget.

Get me a quote for me and the missus to go Iceland for a few days in 2025.

We 100% are not.

And all the while being told what to think, what to say, how to act. Comparing ourselves to others from a young age, getting teenagers in the mindset to flirt with stress and anxiety with exams, so that if they do well, they can take more exams, often for a job that doesn't even exist yet.

Who is telling you what to think, what to say, and how to act? Can you not just ignore them?
