That’s what I’ve heard. They delayed getting it sent as they had a load of questions to clear up about dosing. You don’t submit, then withdraw, if you find that you got the dosing wrong. That would kill it dead

Yeah, i think efficacy varied from 60 to 95%

And they couldnt actually be sure which mix worked best

So, i guess, they re ran the testing

And then sent off their results, middle of last week

I think Hancock announced it Wednesday

You can to put as many sums as you like... "if we do X vaccinations per week for Y weeks then all of a sudden 50% of the risk dissappears. It's just not gong to be that linear.

I tend to agree with Esco and suspect the roll out will be a lot slower than people think. I'll be surprised if everybody isn't sat in T3 or T4 until March at the earliest.

I'm fully expecting an announcement in the next few days putting those not in T4 restrictions, into it for a minimum three or four week period

The Wellcome trust are the worlds leading genome research facility.

Budget is in the billions.

Best and biggest on earth.

I was there a few years ago, they had a room the size of a football pitch with about 300 dna sequencers in.

Each machine cost half a million.

I guess they have done quite well then and haven’t had to let tens of thousands of folk go?

First I’ve heard of them

I just wanted to know how balanced their opinion would be (health vs economy) when giving their opinion on what our priority should be...

The CEO of the Wellcome Trust was an interesting listen this morning. The one we try and get back to.normal quicker, the longer it will take. He was confident at some point next year we'll be back to almost normal but tonrush to.open thing up too much by March would be foolhardy.

Schools and the health service the priority.

I got it from here...

Shippers last 10 days keeping the vaccines at the required temp (at least, more if you replace the ice). Then you have at least 3 days in a normal freezer

At least 2 weeks factory to arm without needing a special freezer

You have found an article on the internet and decided it confirms your view. Do you honestly think any medical professional or politician is not desperate to get this out as quickly as possible ?

Yep. And as Ani said if you have incomplete datasets you simply won’t get approval

One thing that I haven’t read anywhere is whether everyone gets the same dose? Does a relatively fit mid 50 year old with no known underlying conditions get the same dose as a 70 year old on chemo or dialysis or with heart failure?

It was Van Tam that said getting 15m vaccinated removes 99% of the risk, he seemed quite confident with that

Youd like to think with 99% of the risk gone that we would all be in Tier 1 at least, if not back to ‘normal’ all be it with some bits remaining like masks etc until it’s gone

Question is, how long to vaccinate 15m and remove 99% of the risk?

Next question, how quickly can we get to 5m and remove 50% of the risk (give or take)

No

I read the article back when our government was cock waving that we were first to approve the vaccine and would get 1m a week out

It’s the BBC so I’d like to think the reporting is fairly robust in terms of how the vaccine is transported

It’s not unreasonable to think that this is just another in a long line of fuck ups (see PPE, track and trace etc etc)

Bit of fag packet maths

2 minutes to do a vax, consents and post vac monitoring to be assumed not bottlenecks

Bolton could do 15k a day

So say 80k a week

Chance not much else is getting done, mind

And everybody needs 2

I dunno how many boltons there are in the country...250?

So 250 x 40000 is 10000000

Be gone for end february :)

id better get a fresh fag packet cos that might be pushing it

I've given my opinion a few times, I think that's taking us until March.... I hope I'm wrong

I think your right with March for the most vulnerable 15m getting sorted

However I don’t think we should all follow really tight restrictions (Tier 4) from now until 99% of the risk has gone

We should be moving down the Tiers as the vaccine is rolled out and the risk decreases

I didn’t have one but we got a private company in to give out flu jabs this year on site at HO in MK. Each slot was 30 minutes so that cleaning of the area could be done before/after  each attendee and to avoid any queues. You turned up no more than 10 mins before your appointment at the main reception and were let in.

so in a what 8/9 day that would be 20 max? For one person administering. Surely the same precaution will be taken at all covid vac sites as well? That severely reduces numbers

Father in law lives in Surrey. Ended up managing to get it at the GP, but at one point a couple of months ago he was supposed to be heading to an unused airstrip which was being used for delivering flu vaccines this year. Sounded massively sensible to me.

Drive through, stay in car

Dunno mate, but there has to be a will and has to be a way found

Saying its not easy isnt good enough

Agree we need this rolled out to the masses ASAP. Someone somewhere will be paid a lot of money to solve these logistical problems.

drive through would seem to be the best option. Family in the car and do them all. Bosh. Done. Drive off.

Isn't one of the issues that you need to be "monitored" for 15 minutes after your jab, in case of an adverse reaction? - if so, I can't see them being happy about folk getting a jab then driving away

I had a flu jab at local medical centre. We queued up socially distanced. I was in for about 1 minute. I was in queue in our group so not sure how long next person had to wait.
We got a permission/info sheet as we went in. Read it afterwards.

Ive had a bit of time to think about this

Just who has been on furlough for 12 months is going back to the job?

As you say, anybody who has been furloughed for that period of time most likely won't have a job to go back to.

Cheers. I think with it being a work provided jab it may have been overly cautious to avoid and issues and also the Germans are overly studious as we know.
