How dare anybody be proud to be English or British.

Surely that’s not allowed these days neither.

Its surely racism of some description.

15m is absolutely fantastic. I just hope there isn't a slowdown from here.

No, I just don't see how that would make you proud to be born somewhere.

Same as being shamefaced when a country fails.

Personally, I find it utter bollocks both ways. I'm not inherently proud because I was born somewhere and something good happened.

I'm proud of my achievements as modest as they are, people I love, my kids. Proud of Bolton if they play well or do something good. Maybe I'm just not invested as much in the nationality thing.

Others may find it different.

Have you ever been to a lavender field in June? Stunning, itd even turn the head of the most boarish. Get yourself.to the Darrent Valley, stunning my naselly challenged friend.

I just thing being proud of something you had nothing to do with is, well, not for me.

So you can be proud of Bolton doing something good but you can’t be proud of a country doing something good.

How odd

15m well done👍

But you are proud of Bolton when they do well ?

Each to their own but I am proud of things that the country achieves especially when it has involved people at so many levels from people administering the jabs, delivery drivers, scientists and the Govt who backed AZ at the start.

The fact our little country has developed something that will potentially save millions of lives round the world and this will be delivered without just making as much as possible is even better

Yes guess it is, as I said maybe because I'm not really into nationalism like that but support a football team.

Both are very arbitrary things that are mainly about things beyond our control, specifically birth.

But by the same token pride neglects the context of all the other things. As I say, it's arbitrary - and therefore I find it difficult to be proud of it. I'm just not emotionally connected in that sense to a random place where I was born. Thats not to day I don't like it, just find the pride thing is not for me.

It isn’t about nationalism, but it would natural if one’s country achieved something, to be proud of it.

You seem happy most of the time to run it down.

I went doing a shop last night.

Noticed a lot more maskless nobheads than before.

Has some circular gone around simpleton social media circles in the past week?

Anyhow, it's a great effort to all concerned regarding the vaccine drive.

But let's not forget we also have many complete twats like the above.

TBF I see what you are saying, just a question of degrees, you 'like' it, I am 'proud'.

He wasn’t meaning @boltondiver he was meaning the maskless idiots 😆

I'd got into the habit of doing our weekly big shop in the evening because it's so quiet. Made the mistake of going mid-afternoon on Friday. I'd say about half of people weren't wearing masks at all or were simply using them to cover their chin. Was really surprised and I won't be making that mistake again any time soon.

No, when do i run this place down? Love it here, that's why I live here rather that having a bolt hole elsewhere. I love London and this country, but to say it makes me proud by dint of birth? Nah.

I wasn’t saying that, but whatever works for you.

I just don't understand why you are proud of something that has nothing to do you but your place of birth. That's what I don't get.

I didn’t say you should be.
