The virus has almost left the non-hospital/care home population. Quote

Spider Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 Doesn’t look to me like we have any sort of control of the infection. But I’m just a prole so it matters not a fckin jot what I think. I’m staying on lockdown for a while longer either way. I understand the economic situation, but a healthy economy needs a healthy population. I think this could bite us on the arse. I honestly think another 2/3 weeks would be very beneficial. Quote

I ask again. What is it you think it is that is going to be announced this evening and why? Everyone I’m hearing is more of the same another 3 weeks bar more exercise. Not sure how that’s biting Anything? Quote
peelyfeet Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 This conversation just came up on a football dads WhatsApp group I'm on. Do you think Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks would have survived Coronavirus. Quote

We’ve seen this weekend how many people have given up on the lockdown. A message of any ambiguity whatsoever will simply give those people (and many more) a green light to just carry on. The message needs to be crystal. Stay home. But, because of the bill being run up on furlough payments, I think they want employers to dig the conches out and summon everyone back for the 18th. Quote

I don’t think folk need an excuse to break lockdown they already are and already were weeks ago. It does seem to be more prevalent in last couple of weeks so are we fighting a losing battle anyway? agree the message change isn’t helpful. Should remain the same. Stay at home. also as I’ve said before if we don’t start getting back to something more normal ASAP in terms of work, poverty will kill more than this virus hands down as the government have no choice but to stop paying eventually. We simply don’t have it. It’s a fine fine balance And pretty much unpalatable whichever way you look at it sadly. Desperate times indeed Quote
Casino Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 The furloghed masses do seem to be in the sights of government It is costing a fortune and I can understand them wanting to end it, but some of the language ie Hancock 'weaning them off furlough' is insulting and won't be forgotten Sooner the shit is out of a job the better From our point of view at work, we need to see more shops opened before we can get our people back in Garden stores will be handy Quote
Spider Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 Don’t get me wrong, this is an awfully tough call, but I think another couple of weeks might squash the virus right down. Quote

Casino Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 I could go back, but there's nowt much for me to do Got 10 starting over this coming week but that doesn't need me in full time Quote
Casino Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 And the likes of hotel/pub staff, what are they supposed to do They've done exactly as they were asked, fuck off home and don't come out, and to then be told they need weaning off furlough as though it's a lifestyle choice is insulting Id furlough Hancock, the waste of fucking space Quote
Escobarp Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 (edited) You don’t like Hancock we get it also think hospitality sector will be kept on furlough. As they don’t want them opening. soon as furlough is stopped across the board watch the unemployment numbers soar. Furlough Has merely delayed it. It was flawed in the fact that the thinking was the economy would flourish when it opens up. It may but it won’t be fully open for months and even then there will be mass caution the airlines have merely been upfront and honest about what’s coming we are on the edge of a big cliff and about to start the fall downwards. radcliffe white Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 Aye furlough is buying folk some time whilst getting some money should be used wisely as there will be lay offs Quote
Guest Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 Rishi will be the one under pressure about further furlough measures. Quote

Hope nobody on here is affected Quote

But ‘limit contact with other people’ , that is wide open to interpretation and will exploited by the topless stans and vest top Barbaras up and down the country. In my opinion, they are better face to face. The government and people nervous about CV may say otherwise. Do I send a guy on a 2/3/400 mile round trip? My competitors might. Quote
