We have a few gay MP's, but seriously could happen in the next 20 years, by that time i will be or approaching the brown bread stage.

It'll be a long time before that happens in the UK, although Irelands last one was gay, so who knows. Not that it makes any difference anyway, straight, gay or transgender....they'll still be the same as all other politicians, and in it for themselves

Michael Gove has probably had more meat  through his back door than most butchers.

Johhny Kwango as Speaker. Any messing and he'd just nut 'em.

When did the VAT. relief kick in for dinner out? Anyone noticed the price coming down yet?

We’ve been out twice this last week and both times the restaurant has charged the same as pre Covid

Probably trousering it which is a shame as I would have definitely gone out more if it was passed on

They would say they are keeping it as they're really struggling

Also, no shows have gone through the roof, which is extremely cuntish

Appreciate why they may have chosen to do it, guess the thinking was to drive additional volume through the sector at the tax payers expense

that wont happen if it’s getting trousered, I doubt the government will do it again or extend it if it’s widespread

agreed on the no shows though

What days did you go out? The offer is only mon-weds for businesses that applied for it

That’s a different thing and not on til 3rd August. Vat decrease is separate I think

Turns out so

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2020/07/vat-cut-to-5--for-hotels-and-attractions---will-you-get-a-discou/amp/

But firms AREN'T obliged to pass on the VAT cut to customers by dropping their prices. The Treasury says that while it looks to businesses to pass on the benefit of the VAT drop to their customers if they can, it is for individual companies to decide their own prices – and many affected firms will have missed out on recent income due to being closed during lockdown.

From what I've just read seems the big places are doing it

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/business/2020/jul/15/uk-fast-food-and-coffee-chains-cut-prices-as-vat-relief-comes-into-effect-comes-into-effect-customers-lockdown-coronavirus

Think Nandos etc have already announced the price Drops. Smaller places with do it can’t see it

Think the big chains would get slaughtered if they didn’t pass it on

Don’t get me wrong, can empathise with the places that I’ve been to that haven’t passed it on, both great food pubs that we love to visit.

Just a shame as we would have been inclined to go a lot more had the prices come down a bit. Even though it’s only 15% it adds up, did £100 on a Sunday lunch yesterday for me and the family

There’s a chef on twitter saying the vat cut is there to provide the restaurants with extra income and his customers arguing with him that it’s to incentivise them to walk through the door

Aye, very poor

Deposits becoming the norm now in most places that are lucky / good enough to be running at or near capacity

Fancy that Chateaubriand, would be £10 cheaper with the VAT passed on!

Don’t think VAT has been dropped in Scotland anyway has it?

No it is up here as well. Just nobody passing it on it appears other than the big chains. I don’t begrudge it either but it would be nice

they do specials so save your choice til you’re there. Once had a 75 day aged bone in ribeye in there. Best thing I’ve ever eaten in my life. They do upto 90 day  aged

Sounds quite interesting that. Butcher in Bradley fold garden centre has an ager, with all manner of cuts hanging and darkening.

Just ordered a beef pack from the "Hogton herd". Farm opposite the entrance to the tower.

Will be ready in August- the beasts are in the field adjacent to the road at the moment; was looking and wondering which one we'll be eating!

This place has its one ageing room. Uses some special salt on walls or summat to control the moisture. You can see the beef hanging up.

once saw Heston go to a place in New York for a steak. The cellar has all this meat that’s just gone black crust  Amazing he said it was.

75 days oldest I’ve had so far And was unreal flavour and texture. but will have a 90 day as a treat this year at some point.

How do you eat them?

My brother likes it rare, bit I can't be doing with the texture of it like that- like bloody jelly inside.

Medium for me.

Medium rare or rare depending on the cut I’m having

Steak medium with peppercorn sauce
