Moderators Casino Posted February 12, 2020 Moderators Share Posted February 12, 2020 End of the day, the nhs will always spend more than it gets So Fund the treatment, but something else doesnt get funded Where do we draw the line Id spend a whole lot less on IVF treatments, wonder what else we could kick in the long grass to find the money for this messed up folks
Members Rudy
i was talking to a female pro footballer today about this subject and we got onto the subject of cross transgender sportsmen and women. So if you’re a man and became a woman, there’s no way you should be allowed to compete in women’s sports. Trans olympics would be fun to watch though

If you naturally can't have kids you can adopt. There is a huge need for that.

Yes. A course of treatment seems reasonable. Perhaps not multiple goes though.

I completely get that - and I feel sorry for them. Its more why the NHS should fund it? I guess a bit like the transgender thing on a case by case basis where there is underlying mental health risks if not then I might go with it for that. But otherwise - there are many unfortunate situations people are born with that the NHS won't fund to fix.

I think I might be wrong but I think they only get a few tries before they have to go private. I can’t imagine the torment people go through to then have to resort to IVF. I think a lot of procedures should be for the chop but not IVF for me.

So, which go so we can keep IVF Or shall we just say no to transgendering These difficult decisions need to be made cos the nhs can't do everything folk want of it

I do think cosmetic procedures should be much further down the list than IVF, whether the cost is anywhere near I don’t know. Is getting a boob job or gender procedure to help mental health really the route cause of their problems? I doubt it. Something has got to give to help the NHS, not just the cost but the resources as well. I’m just glad it’s not me making the decisions

Any woman denied this deserves every chance to fix it imo.

Any woman denied this deserves every chance to fix it imo. But if someone goes out and has a big accident cos they've drunk too much are we saying - no - you can just bleed to death? Someone dies. Vs - a woman not being able to give birth to her own baby - which is sad and very painful BUT nobody dies, and there are ways around being able to still parent, adoption, surrogacy etc....not perfect solutions but better IMO than not treating emergencies or cancer or whatever. And the thing about fat people or smokers or alcoholics is this - how do you define it? People who drink or have ever drunk above the recommended units? We're all fucked then. People who smoked? Its not that easy. And overweight folk already are refused a lot of treatments.

Site Supporter MickyD Posted February 14, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted February 14, 2020 You could also argue that the taxes involved in being a smoker or a drinker mean they probably put more into the pot than non-smokers and non-drinkers.
