I think it's either/or tbh.

The discount.

I think it's only The Co-Op that do double bubble discounts - and I think they've exempted booze purchases from their NHS discount.

Just checked and youre right

Staff discount is more than nhs

I wouldnt know as i never see the card  :)

I can’t wait for a pint of the black stuff when the pubs open

Our staff discount is double bubble on the weekends after pay day. You can build points up all year and get near on £100 of Christmas booze without handing a penny over...

Same, but a week later.

That first week will be fucking horrific. Like a week of New Year's Eve with absolute wankers everywhere.

Oh yeah absolutely I’ll swerve it for a while

I needed naan and coconut for a curry thats on the agenda

Managed to land steejays recommend, the latest northern monk collab, some cannonball which pushes jack hammer and a couple of magic rock clairvoyance for research purposes (24 quid)

Some O-G Hazy, SALT Ripe Times DDH NEIPA, SALT IKAT DDH DIPA, and North Lost Cosmonauts here.

Paid £3.50 for one of them.

£3.50.

World's gone mad.

Where?

Tesco Middlebrook all of them, wasn't sure I'd seen them there before apart from the OG.

pissheadery finally caught up with me last night, got in bed at 9, didn't wake til 8 this morning

unlike me, i'm usually a 5-6 hours of sleep man

Had a couple of the cloudy apple cider from lidl last night. Was spot on.

Traf and Youri talking about rum in the post-apocalypse thread got me trying to remember the best rum I ever had and finally remembered it was Angostura 1919, a thing of beauty even for folk like me who don't drink much spirits.

Not feeling magnificent today and taste buds might not be their best but definitely give the SALT IKAT and SALT/Magic Rock Ripe Times a go if you're NEIPA/tropical inclined or just like a decent strength.

I'm not normally one for the tropical but I reckon you could easily make a mistake with the IKAT at 8% and end up drinking it like it's much lower down the % scale. The Ripe Times is lower at 6.5% but is really really really drinkable.

Part of me is glad I didn't buy more and a bigger part of me is wishing I had some left.

I recently had a gose with salt as one its "flavours", think it was Northern Monk

It was rank

And it puts me off any beers i see by Salt in Tesco

Beer with salt in is a disgrace.

its like drinking seawater.

cant be healthy.

Right then.

As lockdown has ended, and it appears normality is pretty much upon us as of next Monday, I think it’s time we had a Covid Ale Top 10 off everyone.

We’ve all survived the pandemic whilst going on a booze odyssey. We should all now be able to list our top ten favourite beers with decent accuracy - this can include beers from pre-lockdown of course.

This is not draft ales. Stuff you drink at home.

I’ll start:

10. Guinness

9. Brewdog NEIPA

8. Camden Hells lager

7. Trooper IPA

6. Iron Maiden Sun & Steel lager

5. Brewdog Lost Lager

4. Brewdog Cloudwater

3. Czech Sainsbury’s pilsner

2. Black Edge American IPA

1. Czech Budweiser

I reckon a lot of them smell like sweaty socks.

spaten is my current fave

Their beer is ok, nothing special, but these days they are very much a 'last resort'

1. Over and Over - Farmyard/Strata

2. Easy Life - Mobberley

3. Slacks - Polly's

4. Order of the Faith - Northern Monk/AlphaDelta

5. Never Known Fog Like It - Rivington

6. Passer IPA - Squawk

7. Citra DDH - Mobberley

8.Pale Ale - Cloudwater

9. Vermont Sessions - Brewdog/Northern Monk

10. DIPA - North Brewing

Honourable mentions to Faith (NM), OG Hazy (BD), ALF (Marble), APA (Hophurst) & countless others that have been long forgotten once the bin's been emptied.

Too nice an evening not to have a slurp outside
