Me neither, did a pre season friendly on my own and ended up getting jumped on by a few after the game.... no wonder I can’t stand them.

Not pleasant - but to be fair in 86 that didnt necessarily mean that they hated us, that could have happened at Rotherham or Mansfield.  Its just what happened to away fans on their own.

Fucking guttersnipes, an old workmate ran a pub in town for a spell and I went in for a pint, a lot of wiggin dickheads used it, someone clocked my Bolton pin badge and it kicked off, my mate calmed them down and told me to fuck off for my own safety.😄

Always good for a laugh. Wigan fans, who often remind us that our stadium is closer to their town than it is to ours risked ‘taking’ our town hall steps seven miles or so from the stadium. Strange that, maybe they knew any opposition would be sparse.

edit - and at 1.40, does the lad in the grey hoodie and a turquoise shirt sticking out actually skip to the steps. I’d never noticed that before.

I never noticed a Wigan rivalry till about 86 when they decided to have a go back at us.

Correct. If Wigan had been like Stockport, Halifax or Port Vale, accepted their place in the world and let Bolton bully them for 30 years  then there wouldn't have been the celebrations last night.

Wigan got their mini revenge off the pitch at the Market Tavern in 1986 and have matched us on the pitch since Whelan's money got them in the Premier League in 2005.We don't  like things like that, why couldn't they know their place and just be shit like Stockport

It took Burnley years to have a dig at Bolton in 88, it took Wiggin 3 seasons. Fucking cheeky upstarts.

Cheers. I don't think there is much ambiguity in the punishment and when it takes effect (12.3/12.4). It looks pretty clear cut to me and I don't think they are challenging that. They are just relying on the right of appeal. I have put the Force Majeure appeal wording below, for info.

It looks like they will need to show that them going into administration was solely as a result of an event that, having regard to all of the circumstances, was caused by and resulted directly from circumstances (other than normal business risks) over which the Club...could not reasonably be expected to have control and its Officials had used all due diligence to avoid the happening of that event.

Assuming that they are blaming Covid-19, then there may well be an argument that it had a material adverse effect on the loss of anticipated income streams and that it was unforeseeable and unavoidable. After all, nobody had even heard about it until January (unforeseen) and the Government are the ones that have imposed restrictions on crowds attending games (unavoidable). It would inevitably impact not only gate receipts, but on other income e.g. merchandise, hospitality, advertising revenue etc. That seems to fall within the "Club income" wording.

However, my two pennies' worth:

(a) is that the "sole" reason for the admin? Did admin only happen because of that lack of income resulting from Covid? That's quite a big thing to show.

(b) the fact that every other club in the football league has survived through Covid (so far) says a lot.

(c) the sale of the club happened on 4 June 2020 - at which point the buyer would have known about the Covid situation and that funding would be needed until the end of the season.

(d) if they allow the appeal, will that lead to a rush of other clubs going into admin and then using the same grounds to avoid sanctions? I doubt the EFL will want to risk that happening, even though each case should be judged on its own merits.

(e) it's evidently not a clear cut case that the appeal will fail, otherwise Wigan wouldn't be spending £500k on it.

Introduction

The following Regulation provides for how sporting sanctions will be applied to Clubs when the Club, or any Group Undertaking, becomes subject to or suffers an Insolvency Event, and also makes provision for an appeals mechanism, but only on the grounds of ‘Force Majeure’.

By way of clarification the following are identified as circumstances which it is intended would be embraced under the category of ‘Force Majeure’. It is intended that this appeals process should be limited to circumstances which are deemed unforeseeable and unavoidable. In all these examples, each case would have to be considered on its own merits:

Club Income: In the event that a club suffers material adverse effects upon the loss of anticipated income streams which mean that it is unable to meet its liabilities as and when they fall due. This could only be grounds for appeal, however, if the loss occurs during the currency of a binding agreement (i.e. not upon expiry).

12.3.10 A Club may appeal:

(a) against a decision of the Board to impose a points deduction arising from an Insolvency Event of a Group Undertaking under Regulation 12.3.2; and/or

(b) against an automatic deduction of points imposed where a Club, Premier League club or National League Club suffers an Insolvency Event under Regulations 12.3.1, 12.3.6 or 12.3.7 respectively,

but only on the ground that the relevant Insolvency Event(s) arose solely as a result of a Force Majeure event (‘Sporting Sanctions Appeal’).

12.3.11 For the purposes of this Regulation 12.3, a ‘Force Majeure’ event shall be an event that, having regard to all of the circumstances, was caused by and resulted directly from circumstances, other than normal business risks, over which the Club and/or Group Undertaking (as the case may be) could not reasonably be expected to have control and its Officials had used all due diligence to avoid the happening of that event.

Droves of away fans take Wigan town centre over, it's the unlucky scarf wearer's what are the easy pickings on the walk back the wrong way after a game. Fucking scum. I saw some WBA getting jumped this season while I was waiting for a bus home after a day out in Lancaster. I would've helped out, but i still hate West Brom since 76.

I was first out last time we played there with my lads just near the TC a mob of about 30-40 lads bounced out of a side street lucky for me there was 5-6 Bolton lad (not hooligan types who stood there ground and took their attention) lots of BWFC yoof legged it, I decided to zip it and walk off without getting involved because of my lad, must say this old fool was twitching for one of them to front me. 😂

The, as described by Jimmy Hill on MOTD, infamous 'Kung Fu Kick' incident on the embankment match?
