Dog started with a slight limp (back leg) Saturday morning. No obvious injuries or anything stuck between toes. Gradually got worse so I've booked him into the vets. Earliest I can get is Wednesday. He's only 1, so it's not old age. 

Given his paws a salt bath and trying to make him rest. Anyone got any advise to try and help the poor lad? 

I can cope with poorly humans but not with poorly animals 😢

Was it Covid restrictions that stopped you from being in the room with him? 

Spotted a flea on the dog 10 days ago, few days after going to the groomers. Flea treatment, on dog and house done, but dog still scratching a bit, no fleas in sight for days, no sores at all but little black spots on belly ( not flea poo, like freckles this) anyone any idea?

Took my dog to the vets last week for a check up.When they brought her back out to me got talking to the vet and she said they were only allowing owners who's pet where "end of life" in to the surgery but this obviously is not the case for all veterinary's

Sympathies mate. Ours is 8 this week seems to have been here forever. My missus already gets upset thinking about when ‘it’ happens. 

Sorry for your loss SJM. Only another dog owner can understand what you're feeling right now.

A "non dog" person would just smirk and say "It's only a dog, get another one"

I know we are planning to be in various parts of the world after retirement so haven't replaced our last little loyal friend but even if we weren't heading off, I don't know that I could go through losing one again after three previously. Too painful.

There's a really old fella (dog) in our street. He's doddery and stumbles, but keeps on plodding and wagging his tail. A few other dog walkers locally have lost pets in recent times.

Really shit- sometimes look at our 3 and think WHY?

First thing the seller of ours said to Us, don’t feed them treats, they need food water and exercise

I was in the vets this week and in there I saw two French bulldogs panting like fuck and other one getting into the car as I was coming in.

Breeding these dogs on such a scale can’t be good

French bulldogs are the top earner down at her place.

They've been bred to the point of such monginess that in a few years they’ll need ventilators.

Pigs ears are useful as they take chewing as does rawhide etc. Actually helps dogs relax (chewing action apparently) and calories not as easily gained.

Dried fish (sprats) are excellent for a reward as they are tiny, but full of useful oils etc.

Can even dry your own stuff like a bit of liver for example. Use a really low oven for a good while and they dry out. 

Are you using dried dog food too, as they are also made with a carbohydrate source which acts as a binder.

Thats why I cook my own. Simply get raw stuff- used in BARF diets- (lots of stuff available) and add veg and a controlled amount of carbs. Cook and freeze if required.

Do they still do Bob Martin dog chocolate? They were every bit as good as Cadbury buttons when you didn’t have any Cadbury buttons.

My dog has always been my best pal.
