When I started going, "when the whites go marching in" from the Paddocks was, on a few occasions, amazing as the whole structure would resonate with the clapping a way I've never heard since.

Yes, difficult to put into words if you haven't witnessed it, the sound it made was absolutely unique and was a "being there" moment to hear it, because it was impossible to describe to those that weren't.

It was another call and response chant and I  think the first line was

Woooah (note rises in middle then back down again)

WOOOAH (ditto)

can’t remember next line but something like Goopah, goopah, goopah

GOOPAH, GOOPAH GOOPAH

Hhha ha ha ha (exaggerated H on first one)

HHHA HA HA HA

not a clue how it went from there.

In my Lever End years, this was led by a lad called Tony Brooks:

Wayyohhh, (crowd copies)

Wayyohhh, (crowd copies)

Gooba, gooba, gooba (crowd copies)

Gooba, gooba, gooba (crowd copies)

Hahahaha (crowd copies)

Hahahaha (crowd copies)

Then is started again with Wayoh. A Lever End classic. I can remember a few opposing mobs just standing and staring and appearing to shit themselves :D

I think the last two lines are "Glory be there ain't no more of us coz the Lever End they took the lot". Or something like that.

Glory be to God there were no more of us

Or we'd have took the fucking lot

Is my recollection.

We are the Lever End & we are round the bend

We are the greatest team the world has ever seen

We are the boys in white & if you want to fight

Come over this side!

Anyone remember that one?,not sure what the tune is.

There's a crack up in the ceiling & the Stretford End is leaking

Georgie Best has got no money , he only plays because he's funny

What are we living for ? To see United in division four!

To the tune of Dead End Street.

Jingle Bells Stepney smells Crerands on the booze

Nobby Stiles has got no teeth & united always lose .

We wished.

As he lay on the ground slowly dying

With the blood pouring out of his head

As he lay on the ground slowly dying

These were the last words he said

Bolton  Bolton Wanderers uja! uja!

There's actually a ton of songs but not many originals. Most copies from other teams fans.

Have to say Inter Milan at Parkhead were excellently loud but organised to the nth degree with chant leaders at the front.Made 2k sound like 10k.

Apart from Brum have to take 1st prize at the Reebock.

IMO, that night match when Juke won it for them, was the best away support I've seen at the Reebok

They never, stopped singing, never bothered having a go at us. They just belted the songs out and got behind their team for 90 minutes. Respect tbf.

🎶 Your going home in a St John's Ambulance 🎶 🚑

Was always favourite of mine 😁

That's just reminded me of the Lever End in 83-84, the one year it was used for singing after being seated.  It only lasted a few months but there were some cracking characters in there.  An opposing injured player would be carried or stretchered off around the cycle track, these days they get a sympathetic round of applause from home fans. Not then.  To the tune of "Those were the days my friend" -  "We hope your balls drop off, we hope your balls drop off" while they were wheeled slowly in front of us.  I'd never heard it before or since and the originality and childishness of it just adds to the amusement.

Every time an opposition player went down injured I remember the Paddock chanting,

'We hope your balls drop off

We hope your balls drop off

We hope your balls

We hope your balls drop off'

(this was when we had gone really shit, a bit like now)

Remember as a kid the Goober Goober Goober chant, there's a guy in the barmy army at cricket does a similar thing.

Spot on. Reminded me of another Lever End anti DMB classic:

His name is Georgie Best and he's a fucking big disgrace,

Runs down the wing in knickers made of lace,

And when he scores a goal, he does a little twirl

And curtseys to the Stretford End just like a little girl

Na-na-na, na-na-na-na-na................

Mine is as above

I don’t want to join the army...

When I was young

My dad said to me

"son d'you want to work for Lostock Hawker Siddley".

I said "no, I don't think so..

...cos I want to go and join the Bolton aggro"

"Ello, ello - Bolton aggro, Bolton aggro..."

The last bit usually sung when a cup of summat went flying down the front of the Paddock and it all booted off.

Or......" Bertie Mee said to Don Revie

Have you heard of the North Bank Highbury

Don said no, I don't think so

But i've heard of the Bolton ....agro "

( only one g in agro, it sometimes got spelt out  😊 )

For witty one line chants aimed at W Brom fans in the embankment in the 70s, " You're going to end up like Sandy Richardson "
