Tbf, there's plenty of articles out there regarding the minerals that are in Ukraine and Trumps deals on such minerals in the past.

I've posted two on here.

Neither of them answer my question and a couple of articles are no good, it needs to be a book, one that NIC has read and shares his viewpoint otherwise it doesn’t count.

Trump may reign him in in the end; it might work, we don't know, and there is certainly nothing wrong with trying.

The way he's gone about it is the problem, not the intent.

Also worth noting, that if Russia doesn't play ball, then Trump doesn't get his minerals deal.

He won't get it if American support stops and Russia does sweep in either.

Should big American companies out pressure on him, and he feels wronged, then he may well unlock the support again.

We will see.

I’m still a bit mystified as to the lack of interest in Sir Keir’s lead in trying to unify the west in opposing Putin. A British (English) Prime Minister leading the world in opposition to an aggressor. Who’d have thought it.

His difficulty will be in convincing those who have closer dependency on Russia.

Good few will still be happy to have Russian gas.

Maybe they should tell Putin to stop, and then they can buy his gas again.

Of course it is. I was asking how it will affect the dynamics of the talks as everyone seems to be ignoring it.
An operational update here from VZ. Seems the Ruskies are building up forces on the border with Ukraine again.

And folk wonder why anyone but trump have attempted talks with Putin since this all started

Who knows. Trying to unify so many countries is a big ask.  I give him credit for trying though. My hope is that it will give Trump some leverage against Putin. He may use it, he may not. He may have his own agenda which I think is most likely. At least Starmer and the rest can say they tried. Still a lot of political manoeuvres to come from all sides.

Aye, be a miracle to get everyone on exactly the same page.

No doubt a compromise statement will be released, but I really can't see entire agreement.

To be honest, I’d expect this of any British PM.

Even Boris was good in this regard. I never had an issue with his (or the Tory) stance on Ukraine. It was one thing they got right.

starmer deserves credit, but it’s really part of the job.

In a nutshell

You really think that? I've not once said I agree with them taking land.

After 3 years of war ... a ceasefire agreement is a good thing no matter who organised it.

You don’t need to say it outright

It’s obvious

A ceasefire that means Russia keep the stolen land?

That’s not a result. That’s a defeat.

But it looks like that’s was VZ wants. Even though he’s been saying since the start that’s not what he wants. 🤷🏻

I think he has had to say it to keep Trump onside

Oh and for the record it's what I thought would happen before a shot was fired and before Trump got involved. Some others suggest the same. No one on here ever said it was the right outcome though 👍🏻

If you go and mooch round Kharkov and ask the locals if they want to be part of Russia you might not be quite to sure of that 'split'. Just because someone speaks Russian doesn't mean they don't want to remain Ukrainian.

See Norther Ireland for details :D
