Are we going up?

The other day Rudy said we were 250-1 to win the league.

I put £10 on at 150-1.

Decent odds for a team on a roll.

  • Actually the new Bolton is go one up, miss 27 chances then defend for last 25 minutes potentially with 10 men and pretty certain with a non goal keeper in nets after Gilks injures himself knee sliding

Talk about a week being a long time in football.  With 10 minutes to go at Mansfield they were 2 pts above us with a game in hand, top of the form table and looking at play offs.  A week later we're 1

  • Still have every faith. Not even arsed we lost today. Had to lose somewhere and now is the right time to do it. I think Maddison needs a couple of starts.

Bradford in decent form, that’ll be a tough one coming up

If any statto could tell me please - what is the highest crowd for a division 4 game ever?

Reckon there would have been 20k at Valley Parade a week on Saturday

Just looked at Cheltenham fixtures and they seem to have a good run until end of season

Think it will be Forest Green, then Cheltenham then possibly Tranmere or us

Think Cambridge will start to tumble Now

Sheff might have been division 3

Loads of high crowds in the lower divs, in the 50s.

The Third Division attendance record is held by the Boxing Day game between Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United in 1979, when 49,309 people were at Hillsborough.

And prior to that, before the old Third Divisions North and South merged, Cardiff City’s game against Bristol City attracted 51,621 people to Ninian Park in April 1947 for a Division Three (South) game

Thanks. That’s a great crowd at Cardiff, because of the Rugby I never have them down as that well supported

Still think we've left it a tad too late - by circumstance rather than mismanagement. Most important thing for me now is keeping this squad together. Sure some of the bigger boys have got their eyes on Santos, and Baptiste would be hard to replace if he decides to call it a day at the end of this season. Evatt is well on the way to proving himself in the market since Phoenix left, just hope he's got the charisma to convince them to stick around. I think he might.

Is that the game (Wednesday v Sheff U) which led to the chant by (I think) Wednesday,

Hark now hear yadda yadda yadda...

because of Boxing Day.

We're 16 points & goal difference behind 3rd place and played a match more, with 16 games to play.

We could catch any of those clubs, but not all of them. Auto would need a miracle.

Play-offs are feasible. Let's get 9 points from the next 3 games & be in the mix then.

We're 6 points from 3rd, not 16

6pts off third, mate.

Aaaah. Facts.

F'kit.

Taking games in hand into it, I think we would be 13 points off top and 7-9 off third. But that is assuming that all games in hand are won, which is unlikely or impossible.  Automatic is still a big ask, but possible, think we can only really look to drop 8 more points though before season end.

That would put us on 84 points, which should just be enough, although this is a strange season so lower points total might go up.

The games in hand could be a blessing in disguise depending how they fall, the teams above could have games in hand against each other and effectively take points off each other

Oh absolutely,  certainly in Carlisles case, if we keep winning it also puts more pressure on those teams to win those games in hand which will play into it.

We really just need to focus on our own game and take each one as it comes. Evatt clearly knows this and is very focused in that messaging in his press conferences/after match comments.

Just positive we are not relying on snookers just yet

Yeah he’ll be hammering it home one game at a time and keeping them grounded. Us fans can get a little giddy.
said last night after the game, bollocks to games in hand I’d rather have the points on the board

We won't need any where the traditional amount of points this season to get the top 3. Cambridge as league leaders should be around the 62 - 64 point mark by now if they were to hope to be champions.

Everyone is picking up strange results. I wouldn't be at all surprised if 76 or 77 is enough for top 3

Yeah it seems a much closer season so think that is probably true, but just going off previous seasons. Even 76-77 though means we have to keep it very tight. It is achievable though, and what an incredible journey it will be.

Just hope when we do lose our next game we don't see a huge hit to our confidence and the team respond positively.

Well if it helps (it wont), I've updated yesterday's points per game analysis. Top 10 now:

FGR 84, Cheltenham 79, Cambridge 77, Tranmere 76, Carlisle 76, Exeter 76, Morecmbe 75, Newport 72, Salford 71, BW 67.5

So the projection for 3rd place has gone down from 79 to 77, and our's has improved from 65 to 67.5 - instead of needing 2.24 per game we only need 2.07 for automatic (33 more points - 11 wins from 16).

7th place projection has increased from 73 to 75 - its all closed up, the gap between 3rd and 7th is only 2 points now instead of 6.  To get 7th we needed 1.90 per game yesterday, now we need 1.95 (31 pts) as 4 teams around the play off positions won.

No charge for this service.

@Traf can you break this down further but in Toblerones?

CBA looking but I guess SOME of tjese games in hand will be against each other so so.e points will be won & some dropped.

TBH I want every natch other than ours to be a draw from now on
