The Gaza strip especially is a difficult situation and every decent journalist who knows anything about it knows how complex it is.

I can honestly say antisemitism has completely passed me by. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone; pub, work, football match, etc., talking in a non-complimentary way about Jewish folk. Indians, Pakistanis, black folk, yes to all but never Jews.

 

I deal with a Jewish merchant down in Prestwich. Fully orthodox lads with all the curly jids and hats and shit pants etc..

Lovely in their own way but clearly still wary of dealing with folk outside their community, Which given their history seems a fairly reasonable position.

Theres no harm or anything sinister about them though. They drive shit cars is probably the worst thing you could say about them.

Id estimate 95% of them wear glasses.

Other than that, I can’t say I’ve really had anything much to pass comment about. They get on with life.

Anyway, as for the conflict, whilst I take on board everything that has been listed above, I do have nagging concerns over Israeli behaviour.

As an outsider looking in, it just seems that there are two mindsets that will never budge.

aye, I understand it's complex etc

but every time I've tried to get my head round it, and work backwards through the chain of events that led to this, I always end up thinking that Israel/the Jews "started" it and perhaps they need to stop chucking their weight around

From a personal perspective, I’ve never seen Jewish suicide bombers killing kids 20 miles from where I live, nor have I seen them flying jets into buildings.

No group of people are perfect, but it does seem to me that Jews have been terrorised from all angles for ages (that German fella did for 2/3 million of them) and they’ve just become very good at protecting themselves.

when you have survived a Holocaust only to emerge to find a billion Muslims want to wipe you out, it’s probably fair that they get upset.
