If the latter is true, then parents are entitled to complain if there’s not a memorial for both groups who’ve been massacred. Things always get skewed when the media gets involved in schools stuff though. Our council guidance was not to get involved in either side when it came to conflict. Seems fair enough. It is a Jewish school though. I agree about staying away from certain things; they are perhaps unnecessary in a child's education (leave it to parents) but whilst we have religious schools, then it shouldn't surprise folk if they have their own "faith events". Members Popular Post Lt. Aldo Raine Posted September 27 Members Popular Post Posted September 27 Jeez It's simply a memorial service for victims of a terrorist attack on the one-year anniversary of that terrorist attack No one is forced to attend Quote

I went to a faith school, Catholic, we celebrated days others didn’t. Always frowned on Bonfire Night though but I loved it.😊 Anyway, October 7th was one of the most horrific Islamic terrorist attacks in history. Pretty sure there were remembrance days for some of the other Islamic Terrorist atrocities. I don’t need to list them, we all know them. All backed by Iran. No one mentions Iran. Quote

London Wanderer Posted September 27 Posted September 27 30 minutes ago, BobyBrno said: There are anti Israel (antisemitic) marches every weekend throughout the country. A Jewish school, remembering mainly Jewish people in a massacre by anti Jewish terrorists on its first anniversary seems very reasonable to me. Edit. Anti Israel is not antisemitic but many of the marchers are. All anecdotal with no evidence to prove otherwise. There have been offensive banners, groups and individual actions. But the majority are protesting against the extremist Israeli regime and calling for a ceasefire. Claiming this is anti-Israel is nonsense. The marches aren't calling for Israel to be abolished. Demanding Palestine has the right to govern itself, after decades of war, huge land grabs and illegal occupations isn't an anti Israeli viewpoint. I'll try to respond to all who've replied in this post if possible. I completely sympathise with any Jewish community holding a memorial. In school or at their place of worship. No doubt some families would have lost relatives and friends at the school. But it's important to note that it's a state school and is attended by a significant number of Muslim pupils. If it is true that students had been reprimanded for showing solidarity with the victims in Gaza, then parents are perfectly entitled to complain of double standards. Especially if the pupils were doing so peacefully. Here's an interesting statistic to finish with in regards to schools. 80% of them have been destroyed or damaged in Gaza by Israel since October 7th. And this is the daily reality for primary schools across the West Bank. Wonder why the Israeli government does nothing to stop this? Quote

Site Supporter Winchester White Posted September 27 Site Supporter Posted September 27 As Boby keeps mentioning, the big issues in the middle east are all Iranian funded. Hamas, Hezbollah & Houthis are all terrorist organisations performing as Iranian proxies. They back Russia and Syria as countries that are frankly performing terrorist actions too. It's time we seriously sanctioned Iran and while we are at it do the same with all the former Soviet countries suddenly doing massive trade in posh cars and electronic equipment that find themselves in Russia. Have read the tweet again It has a Muslim in take Which actually surprises me So if it's a school with both Muslim and Jewish pupils, if they want to have a memorial, why can't they just acknowledge the whole thing is shit If they want to just acknowledge the Jewish loss of life, fine But don't also reprimand the Muslims for their views Maybe they could do two memorials One for the loss of innocent Jewish life, one for the loss of innocent Muslim life, all caused by Hamas Quote

You can even trace the Ukraine mess to Iran... the Pentagon wants to place medium range missiles on the eastern extremities of NATO to strike Iran but Putin (quite rightly) has pointed out these missiles can reach Moscow as well... and it all went wibble from ther Quote

Can you expand on this, or post a source? Quote
