I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're basing your response on the snippet of the image posted earlier in this thread and just leave it

And if you aren't, it'd be a waste of time continuing further anyway

Funny that Bolty will pop you on ignore then continue to obsess over your posts. He's a curious lad.

Anyway, my response is based on a few things. I find it very hard to believe that Greta is purposefully using rare and obscure Nazi imagery used to justify mass genocide to spread a solidarity with Palestine message. I find it likely, her being autistic, that it was there for other reasons and they've just popped it in unbeknown. If it was on purpose, then why not stand by it, why delete it? Be proud of your pro Nazi message no?

I am very happy to be proven wrong and if you've more proof or context behind this, then let me know and I'll hold my hands up 👍

Settlers in the West Bank, most illegal and in breach of UN resolutions, being bigger arseholes than usual.

Sadly, this is the everyday norm for many Palestinian families in the West Bank and has been for years. The settler men you see later in the article bear no difference to Hamas in their actions.

These policies come from the Israeli government and they continue with it despite it being against the UN resolutions. It's why many people struggle to believe the IDF. As we saw the other day, it seems more likely their side of the story was true, but it can be hard to believe someone who knowingly does the things they do.

It's far more complex than 'this is all because of Hamas and we've got to defend ourselves'. Trying to point out that complexity and wider context now seems to make you antisemitic.

My son and my dog has one of those teddies, the nazi bastards.

My lad's got 3 of them, won on the grabbing machines in blackpool. I wondered why he was goose stepping around the garden the other day. I'll be sending a strongly-worded letter to Coral Island for disseminating this fascist filth.

It's very easily missed, to be fair, and without an (probably unhealthy) knowledgr of antisemitic imagery it can seem innocuous

It's what's so clever about it

This was the one and only time I heard about the octopus being a thing

Not sure if she knew, if she did she's a fucking idiot, or she's been set up, either way it was there deliberately

The only offensive thing I know about Jews is big noses

I've already stated I doubt Greta knew it was there or knew the sinister meaning behind it

But, given the context and the strategic placing, I think it's likely her friend does

It's not that obscure it far right and - crucially - far left circles

We'll have to agree to disagree

Of course the toy isn’t offensive. As LAR says, it’s all about context. I also doubt she knew its meaning but I’m sure that someone knew. If a banana is lobbed onto the pitch today, it’ll be considered a racist act.
Are they still taking the knee?  It’ll be for all forms of discrimination. Remember that.

Those particular octopus toys are used widely by Autistic people to express their mood. They're reversible so you can turn them inside out - one side has a happy face on it and the other side has a sad face. They became a massive fad for kids a few years ago. I highly doubt there was even the slightest sinister intention.

fair enough mate.

to be fair, the 'tinfoil hat stuff' was just tongue in cheek 👍 I can see why you think it was strategically placed. But I still find it very hard to believe that even her friend was involved. She's autistic and these things are common.

It's an emotive subject this conflict, even for people living in peace thousands of miles away.

Free speech is ace: just a shame some waste it by spouting shite and offer nothing in return.

Lee Anderson on the other hand - never wastes his free speech right ? 🙂

She offers loads in return, you just don't agree with it. The campaigns she's been involved with of late (before this outburst) have been much more solutions focused and would make a huge difference if policy makers listened. In some cases they have.

The older generation (particularly the gammon elders) do find it hard to grasp just how worried a lot of young people are about their future. Pretty scary stuff on the horizon and I wouldn't be surprised if it climate change is playing it's part in the middle east conflict.
