Covid-19

Slow news day, or end of the world?

”Aggressive” new variant has landed in Moscow. Makes people, even those that have been vaccinated, more poorly than previous types.

Time for Uncle Joe to push the button? Short term pain.

Can’t you dress up in your work gear and just walk on the ward?

Well if she wanted to risk being sacked for misconduct in a public office, putting her own needs before others etc. Then maybe she could.

I've honestly thought about it.

Rather a condescending reply.

My grandad died in hospital last week. They gave him 6 months to live, 6 months ago. He spent most of it at home, but went into hospital 2 weeks ago. No visitors were allowed for the entire time he was in. The night he died, they let my grandma and my uncle onto the ward to spend some time with his body. What is the fucking sense in that?

My Grandad died almost 30 years ago (and he wasnt young, and I'm not that old) Couldn't go and see him in hospital because they don't or wouldn't let 10 year olds on certain wards.

I'm sorry but bollocks now to the Covid stuff.

I think your grandad had decent end of life care.

I'd just like to echo the above.

Yeah my nan has never had it before either. Now she has 😢

Fingers crossed for Nanna Blondie

Thanks @tomski. The annoyance is us not being able to see her. She won’t have a mobile phone so it’s a case of asking nurses for an update.

Thankyou. 93 in May and would give many a knobhead on here a straightener. Proper Nana who wasn't afraid to tell you that you hadn't lost your baby weight 4 weeks after giving birth. I bloody love her.

Its bollocks now. They should be allowed visitors.

That’s grim. Hopefully she stays safe and all the restrictions will be an after thought.

The best type of nanna.

Just phoned for an update. All good. The nurse who answered the call told me the cordless phone on the ward is broken so she’s unable to take the phone to my mum.

Nurse then took a note of my number and next thing, she’s FaceTiming me from her own mobile so tonight I’ve seen my mum for the first time in a week. Proper above and beyond the call of duty.

Fantastic. A lot of the wards now have ipads to use for that. What would we do without technology eh? If you remember the nurses name you can always give PALS a little email. Not often staff hear the positives from family members 💙
