It's also something that I'm on record of saying that I oppose. 

I think mandatory vaccines plays into the hands of people who are anti vax.

I just think those people choosing not to protect their patients to the best of their ability should be made face the consequences of their actions. Where clear evidence exists. 

The same way I would if - I decided I decided to ignore some other evidence based safety measures, like washing my hands before I removed a central line.

No it doesn't sit right with me. 

The vaccine does prevent you from passing COVID19 on. There's loads of data and studies to report this - and it's the same with the delta variant.

The evidence is less clear on Omicron. It's not that it doesn't help or it does help. It's just that the evidence is insufficient to draw any conclusions about just yet. 

If I was a betting man - I'd bet that it does!

The other problem with NHS staff not being vaccinated is the pressure it puts on the rest of the team when a couple of members decide not to have it and then go down with it! Shithouses!

Was the rule only ever designed to push more into having it?

Would never admit it, but apparently the numbers went up when it was announced, so maybe it served its purpose.

I know the announcement yesterday included information around omicron being the predominant strain having an impact on the decision, but 95% jabbed is good.

Probably correct.

If a government realise that a position needs correcting it can be done, but slowly. Simply change contracts for new employees requiring them to accept any specific vaccine (or other) requirements that may arise during the employment. It will, however, take about 40 years to become effective, by which time there may well have been a couple more pandemics.

Not an anti vaxxer,  I've had mine, but most if the UK is now vaccinated and its still being passed on... does the vaccine really stop it spreading?

Vaccines reduce the chance of contracting/spreading it. How can anyone not understand that at this stage?

Yes it does. But that's only part of why the vaccine is useful. Arguably the most important part is that it stops people who contract it from becoming seriously ill.

My middle daughter has caught it again, five weeks after having it. Her sisters haven't and no one else in the family has either.

I feel decidedly unwell and know for a fact I was with 3 people last Friday who have since tested positive.

The rules are that I don’t need to test for 10 weeks after having had it so I’m just going to cough and moan a lot instead.

By pretty much staying self-isolated my 85yo mum has managed to avoid Covid. She had a fall last Sunday and has had hip surgery at BGH. A week in there and she's got the fucking virus.
