Adlington Trotter
"I'm not eating any of that foreign muck". For any food that does not originate from these shores. He still refers to Block & Quayle (B&Q) and National Westminster.
Site Supporter FrancisFogarty Posted September 15, 2021 Site Supporter Share Posted September 15, 2021 Portable phone. Some tablets (I can't remember which ones) were worth 'a guinea a box'. A Ford, a Ford, four wheels and a board. And many many more.

Site Supporter MickyD Posted September 15, 2021 Site Supporter Share Posted September 15, 2021 Yer as annoying as a cinder under t’ door. He was brought up in a terrace with York stone flooring (way before it was fashionable) and I recall the noise a cinder made when stuck between floor and door. Think fingernails on blackboard or tines of a fork on a plate.

Youri McAnespie
My granddad had some corkers; 'Never trust a Semite, ever' 'Das Führer saw Britain as fellow Aryans, he thought a concord could be made, as soon as 'Barbarossa' was formulated and 'Sea Lion' abandoned we'd as good as lost.' 'Du hast wirklich Scheiße fürs Gehirn...' 'Always bayonet the fallen, the wounded bull is the most dangerous bull...' 'Choose the petite woman for fun, the tall woman for procreation...' He was a character.
