EPP don’t want anything to do with the football, for them it's all about realising the potential of under utilised assets.

They're paying us to redevelop bits of the ground to better suit the market they feel they’re in a unique position to attract. Corporate events, concerts, all sorts. The money has nothing to do with how much we'll spend this year on football. Interestingly if it does bring in more revenue it does count under the Squad Cost Rules (SCR), meaning we could spend more without the risk of falling foul. This would make us a massively more valuable/ sellable asset.

I keep hearing this but I’ve no idea how they benefit from this increased utilisation of the ground etc.

They’ve invested in a loss making business.

If we use their money to invest in infrastructure that sees in bring in new revenues, then unless it turns us profitable and they can be paid a dividend (it won’t) then they just have a slightly less loss making business that they’ve invested in. They don’t get anything back for us only losing £4m a year instead of £14m. They only way they get cash back is if we turn profitable (impossible without player sales) or we get to the prem and sell the club.

No fucker invests in a football club if they’re not interested in the football side of it. It’s the most insane idea I’ve ever heard. There are 1,000 ways to increase your wealth more easily than investing in a loss making championship football club and not caring what happens to the footballing side of things.

they sold him for £20m

and Lukaku for £28m (though they bought him for £10m)

they sold KDB for £18m (£11m profit)

£5m profit on Salah

all whilst maintaining a team challenging for and winning trophies

it clearly works well for them regardless if these players eventually go on to do well elsewhere

they all had to go elsewhere and prove themselves before getting a really big move

Why would a big beast like Tim Leiweke suddenly rock up at BWFC?

If it is about the football he can only invest a maximum of £15m into the club in new equity in the coming season (as far as I understand SCR) and that would simply replace the £15m that we assume BMLL were going to put in (not add to it).

That's not going to change anything much in the scheme of things.

£15m is pocket money to Leiweke so why is he on the board?

He's too big a beast to want to front up for a paltry £15m, he's more likely to send one of his deputies to be on the board I would have imagined.

To my mind Leiweke can only be here for one of two reasons.

The first is that there is an opportunity for him and his company to make some real money, it's not from tarting up the Tough Sheet or putting on a few concerts, neither is it funding BWFC for the permitted £33m over the next 3 years (how would they turn a profit on that?)

The only thing I can think of is some major development on the land owned by FV (which iirc has already received planning permission?)

Maybe it is a joint partnership with FV whereby FV provides the land and EEP provides the money to build whatever it is they plan to build, and that in turn allows EEP to make a return on their investment and maybe BWFC are built a new Academy, indoor training facility or whatever is needed (or something along those lines) as part of the deal.

The second is that he's been sent by God just as Sharon says she has.

I'm not a big fan of the second option myself.

Sharon & Co have done a great job in steadying the ship, getting us on the up, running the business and ehancing our reputation (at least from our fans point of view)

then they bring in a guy who makes Ken Anderson looks like an honest guy

but they're not running the show or got any major degree of control over things, so nothing to worry about right now

seems to me initally they are just here to do stuff with the infrastrucuture that FV can't / are unable to

The same question I’ve been batting about.

As much as I’m questioning folk like this being involved in BWFC because of; Trump connections, pardoning from a potential 10 year jail sentence, corruption etc

There surely can’t be many folk that rich who don’t fly close to financial dealings being questioned because of morality/legality?

I suspect most of these rich football owners and investors have skeletons in the cupboard of this nature.

I’m still putting faith in Sharon and FV that they would have considered all of this and would work in the best interests of the club.

Think that is the bit that gets missed sometimes when talking about academy funding. Brentford are a bit of a nothing club who are only relevant until the moment they drop out of the Premier League, at which point they'll go back to having sub-10k gates. At the time it made sense for them to prioritise winning now above everything else. As the past few years have shown, there's more to BWFC and its impact on the local community than whatever division we happen to be in.

When we were on our knees everything had to suffer, beyond that the club should always have a decent academy system.
