When did he say that?

Say what? That's he's 100% Welsh? In a match day program interview a few years back

He also represented them at u16 through to u21

You'll be telling me next he's Asian because he's playing in the Asia cup

When did he say he only plays for Australia because Wales won't pick him?

He didn't, that's me stating the blindingly obvious

What makes him "categorically" Australian?

You're talking shite then.

He was born in Australia and has an Australian passport...

Did you miss the bit where he said he was 100% Welsh and had represented Wales?

If he was categorically Australian none of that would've happened

Or maybe he was talking shite pretending to be Welsh

There is an interview somewhere- maybe linked on here- where he basically said what you infer.

He always wanted to play for Wales, and only went to Aus when he felt he wasn't going to get time with Wales.

He probably won't ever say it in so few words, especially now, but that's what the interview was covering.

Maybe he was. But he is categorically Australian now. He literally played for Australia today...

In the Asia cup right?

You'll be telling us next Owen Coyle is categorically Irish

Interesting to note, what with him being Australian, is that Jones actually did get called up the full Welsh squad under Chris Coleman

Trained with them and everything preparing for a world cup qualifier against Serbia

Was on the plane with rest of the Welsh squad, actually travelled to Serbia to represent Wales

Didn't make it on the pitch though

If he had, all this nonsense could've been avoided

Was Tony Cascarino Irish based on the same logic.

To be honest it’s a futile argument but I find it odd you can change nationalities when it suits.

That said Cheese is also right in that he was born there so can clearly play for them.

The residency rule makes a mock of it all anyway.

Verdict. You’re both correct😂

Jones' eligibility isn't at question in fairness.

It's simply how he sees himself, and his previous comments suggest that that is Welsh.

Can't blame the lad in the end though- he had an opportunity that he wasn't likely to get otherwise.

He like a leek  and a scuna on a Saturday night. It’s complicated
