I thought he was a bit shit but just rapid, definitely struggled taking a throw in and shit his pants when he got the ball back from the throw and had one of our players running at him.

Their left back looked tidy though, also rapid and I thought he defended against Fossey really well.

Kept Fossey quite for large periods. A few teams have identified Fossey like they do with Dapo as the danger men.

Agree on Aimson, great performance, especially in first half when I thought he was our best player along with Morley. 

Re "false position", a couple of things.  Away from home they're top 6 material, only lost 5 out of 14 before last night, and they definitely looked at that level last night.  But relegation form at home, very strange, only scored 16.  I think its possible for a team to be in a 'false' position at this stage if they've changed the team in January.  Sunderland thought they were playing relegation candidates when they came here, we were in a false position because we're a different team now.  Lincoln signed 7 in Jan (that midfielder Morgan Whittaker looked quality, played 40+ games for Derby/Swans and only 21).

I was impressed by the number 11 - Scully. Looked a very tidy player

Do not think it is slagging players off but it is about our levels increasing, this will hopefully lift players but some who were with us last year have a level they may not be good enough to move beyond. 

When this team gets to the championship eventually, it will be a shame that some unfortunately won't be good enough.  I like watching this team, I like the individuals whether its their quality, their attitude or their personalities.  Part of me just wants to see them flourish in league one for a season, because without naming names we know many of them will be the next Doyle/Sarce/Arthur/Delf who we have to discard when we go up.  I also wonder if that crosses the mind of some players when they close in on promotion, they are almost signing their own exit package by taking the team to a level they won't be able to play at.

Made me think of Isgrove. Instrumental in the promotion push last year, injured early doors and we've progressed loads without him. I like him a lot, but I don't see him in this team.

Agreed.

Josh Sheehan will also struggle to get back into this team imo.

Ageed, we were commenting on him (Cohen Bramall?) from the first time Fossey failed to beat him for pace after about 10 minutes.  First full back to manage that against him yet.  Stuck at it all night and it was a massive turning point when he went down injured (fouled?) and for the only time all Fossey got clear and superbly set up the decisive 2nd goal.  I wouldn't say no to him replacing Gordon in the squad next season.

Agreed, although he does have the advantage that he can feasibly cover both Jones and Fossey, whether its as a full back, wing back or winger.  Just depends who else is available at the time too, eg Kachunga, Ameachi.  Its a huge squad when most are fit and a few will be replaced in the summer whichever league we're in.

Isgrove has played in the championship with Barnsley iirc. Might be bollocks though.

Not jeans... Corduroy trousers usually coupled with zany socks and boat shoes.

If I had to give a firm opinion on the levels of our players:

 

1. Santos, Dapo, Charles  - could all be comfortably in a Championship squad already. 

 

2. Morley, Jones, Fossey, John, MJ, Johnston, Lee. - could all probably make the step up, even just as squad players. John wouldn't have been in this list 6 weeks ago, shows how much the system has helped him. Lee has been quality this season but injury prone and turns 34 in June. I almost put Morley and Jones in the top tier. I do believe they would definitely be able to handle the step up, they're just not at the same level as the top 3... but not far off.

 

3. Bakayoko, Kachunga, Bodvarsson, Sadlier, Dempsey, Amaechi, Trafford, Isgrove, Sheehan - these lads I'm uncertain about. I either haven't seen them play enough this season or just can't make my mind up. I almost put Sheehan in the rejects group, wasn't impressed by him in a lot of games this season, started brightly but hit bad form, got an awful injury, hard to come back from that and if we did somehow go up this year he'd definitely be one to loan out.

 

4.  Darcy, Delf, Thomason, Tutte, Senior, Gordon, Baptiste, Edwards, Aimson, Dixon, Greenidge, Alexander, Hutchinson. The ones I doubt would be able to cut it in a higher level. Pretty obvious choices I think. Maybe Aimson a surprise, I do rate him in this division and he's a capable squad player at this level but nothing more in my opinion.

 

 

Ooooo controversial. 

Not yet convinced about Dapo in a higher level, though he has improved his goal return this season.

All the players would face the same issues though- better, fitter opponents making it more difficult- and it's not easy to make hard and fast judgements. 

Personally think santos would struggle in championship
