if you drink in howfen there is a mouthy bloke who is always knocking about market street in wigan colours. often in the sheaf or beer school. He is middle age and turns out in a footy shirt that says enough about him .

Mmm , our paths have never crossed. He can't be that loud.

There a few that frequent the Tap . Very subdued at the moment.

This next time they are in the shit will be a real turning point. The family silver has already been sold.

They are going the same way as Oldham

Bring it on. They can crawl back under the stone from which they emerged in 1978. They remain in the same bracket as some of the other ex non-league non entities knocking about the football league in the modern day. They claim their gates have burgeoned, but we're talking 2,500 to only 9,000 home fans for a side with a recent Prem stretch and an FA Cup win. Even that'll evaporate when the rot sets in. Their ascent was all built on one man's money. They've had a charmed life and it can't go on. When it all crumbles there will be withering scorn from Bolton that will not relent. The natural order will be restored.

Here endeth the lesson.

It's sad about Wigan getting a football team - loads from Wigan, especially the east side used to be Wanderers fans until WAFC crawled out of the disused pit formerly known as Dave Whelan's arse.

About half the people who died in the Burnden disaster had addresses in the Wigan area - but history is something they will never understand.

Still a lot of Whites in the Hindley area, but they tend to be older end.

Most Wigan youth seem to be Latics/Man U/Liverpool.

For as long as they own the stadium then they’re going to be fine. Once it transfers in to the name of the owners…

Imagine the joy if they end up like Cov City having to go cap in hand to borrow someone else's ground.

Reckon they could fill the LSV?

They’d struggle to fill that tiny stand at Leigh Harriers behind LSV 😂

THEY own it, or some shell company covering the ground on behalf of both the Rugby & this shower of shite ?

Latics own it. Whelan’s parting gift was to effectively dissolve the previous stadium company and transfer the ownership in to the club’s name, much to the rugby’s chargin as you’d expect. Things have got progressively messy to the extent that, when the rugby moved their training ground to Robin Park Arena next door to the stadium, they built a bar so they get to keep the money rather than Latics getting it from the stadium bars.

Ta.

Amazing.

Whoever your team there can be zero debate about which is the leading sports club in Wigan.

I see they had a very late goal disallowed at Luton and now have a replay for the reward of playing Grimsby in round 4.  They will be snapping up tickets for that replay in their dozens.

If they beat Luton then Grimsby will bring big following, could be more Grimsby than Wigan. 🤣

Good. The more a fixture pile-up the more tired, more potential injuries, bookings/sending off. The closer McLean comes to that final, career-ending, leg-breaking tackle. The nearer that trap-door they get.

His name fits in their one & only song..... Afolayan is a blue, he hates Bolton.... Unlike Ali Habsi whose cousin Ali Al Habsi played for us.... The thick, 6 fingered, inbred cunts!
